A Vendetta Served
Part II
Sounds of children laughing and playing echo across the clear blue sky while the beaches of Miami, Florida are full of all kinds of characters and ranges of children and adults. Looking in the distance of the sea, we can see some eager surfers attempting to surf the waves of Miami Beach but with no luck due to the lack of wind and the tide not coming in. Sitting on one of the old worn out benches are the agents investigating Nicky Mills, Agent Stone and Agent Carling. Carling has a large file which he is reading in the shade as the bench has been moved under a large oak tree, rather unusual in Miami. Both agents have black tinted sunglasses to protect their eyes from the bright sunlight. They are both wearing identical grey suits which is making them sweat heavily. Agent Stone is currently speaking to someone on a cellular phone.
Agent Stone: "Excellent. Send me a copy tonight."
Stone flips the phone back into it's current position and turns to his long term work partner.
"The boss just gave me something good. Wanna hear it?"
Agent Carling: "It better not be about my wife."
"Heh. Well, the boss is allowing us to investigate 'The Venetian' casino thing. That, and the Lunacchio killings."
"Guess the boss didn't like us targeting him for the Bamboo thing then."
"Lack of witnesses and evidence. Even though Mark Mills's body was dumped there as a 'message', and they're still talking about lack of evidence. But I think this Jonny Fly is involved."
"In what?"
"The Lunacchio's. Check this out... both of them were unaccounted for in these hours. The reason why we've never been able to target them is because they had a rock solid alibi. But now we Anderson, we can push for an arrest."
"No more high profile lawyers. His ass will burn in county for a while."
"Not necessarily. He's going to try anything to push us off the case, even using intimidation. But we have to secure a trial. Once that happens, his ass will be toast."
"Are you sure putting Anderson onto Mills will do good for us? I have a bad feeling about it."
"It's the only way he'll testify. Mills is a known drug dealer and scumbag. Putting him away will be the ultimate good deed."
"Not to mention career push. But do you really think we can nail him? This Jonny Fly character and him are wrestling this week. I'm nervous that they might get tipped off somehow and team up to take us on. If that happens, we may as well say goodbye to our case."
"We'll prevent any leaks, don't worry. But this guy... we've been hunting this asshole for years and he's always slipped through the cracks. Somehow, only now, people are deciding to have his ass thrown in jail."
"Political reasons, perhaps."
"No. I believe it's the 'marked' thing. He's been green lighted."
"By who? Who would want to go after someone who's got enough connections to be a king of the heroin world?"
Agent Stone pauses upon hearing this question and opens the file to a picture inside the folder. We manage to see the picture of a grey haired man with large glasses and a barbed wire tattoo around his neck. His eyes are staring straight at the camera which is taking the photograph and we also notice that there is a measurement chart next to the person, so this is probably a police mug photograph.
"Try this guy... The man that could probably hunt down Nicky if he wanted to."
"Jesus Christ... that's his father. How's he involved?"
"I had an informant call me a few days ago and tell me. Rumour has it that after Nicky's mother died, his dad finally wanted his son out of the way. He sent a hitman posing as him after him."
"He stopped speaking to his son after the Butcher Reed murder. Nicky wouldn't have known what he looked like."
"Precisely. But word then has it that Mills tipped off someone that the hitman had him. Then someone went over there and murdered the guy. I think we should get one of his close friends to go into witness protection but give a testimony that would have his ass jailed for years."
"And years and years. What about Jonny Fly?"
"Are you insane? He would never testify against Mills. They may hate each other now but both have so much dirt on each other it would be a pissing match to see who ends up the most dangerous asshole."
Just as Agent Stone finishes talking, Agent Carling's cell phone begins ringing. The agent takes the phone out of his suit jacket and flips it open, then speaking into the receiver.
"Yeah?"
The person on the other end of the phone line begins speaking for several moments before Carling suddenly shows shock.
"Jesus Christ! When?!"
After more moments of silence, Carling replies to what has just been said.
"Okay. We'll get right on it."
He hangs up the cell phone and takes a few moments to take deep breaths while Stone looks confused with his partner.
"What happened?"
"Kent Strong was just found dead at some warehouse."
Oh shit. How?"
"They found him hanged. And that's not all."
"Was Jonny involved?"
"Don't know. They can't prove it. But get this... they also found several key members of the Dynasty Hitmen dead."
Agent Stone's
face literally drops with shock while the two agents just take in the news that
they have been informed of. This could mean an all out war between Nicky Mills
and Jonny Fly and the consequences could probably get both men killed. The two
agents finally both figure out what they have to do next to prevent a huge
bloodbath.
Several days later...
"What the fuck do you two want? You've frozen my assets and made me a bum living in some crummy apartment. What more can you want?"
The two FBI agents have arrived at the temporary residence of Nicky Mills, a small apartment in Los Angeles, California. Mills is wearing nothing but a pair of black shorts and a pair of black sunglasses. His chest is bare and the agents notice several scars on his body that have aged. Agent Carling happens to speak up about them.
"Nice scars. What are they from, playing mob boss?"
"Real funny, asshole. No warrant, no entry."
"This isn't the time for games. We seriously need to talk to you."
"About?"
Agent Stone takes a deep breath and explains the news that has been told to them by their superiors, news which could provoke either reaction from Mills.
"Kent Strong is dead."
Both men wait on the reaction of Mills which is that of a smile, indicating that he has already been told about the news. He starts laughing to himself and then steps into the hallway of the apartment block.
"I already know. I know EXACTLY why your here. To prevent a war."
"If you even touch Jonny, you'll be rotting in a cell for the rest of your life. No blood."
"Hah. You two shitheads wouldn't know how to stop me even if you tried."
"Heed the warning, Mills."
"You both certainly have balls to come to MY apartment and threaten me when you two are the ones trying to make me sitting in a jail cell with some junkie scum."
"Just don't turn this into another war of yours as you typically do. Wait, you can't seem to 'afford' to these days."
Nicky flashes a grin at the two officers and then suddenly lashes out at Agent Stone, knocking him down with a right punch to the sternum which makes the FBI agent fall over. His partner pulls out his gun which makes Mills retreat slightly but with his eyes fixed on the gun. He holds his hands up to signify he isn't going to do much more but bitterly speaks his next sentence.
"This is for freezing my account. You made me give up everything just because you agents had a beef. Next time you pull that crazy shit, my lawyers are going to crawl up your asses and make you wish you hadn't set your eyes on me."
Stone manages to get to his feet and immediately charges at Mills but is restrained by his partner who holds him back with his shoulder and his arms wrapped around his partners chest. Nicky turns around and goes to walk inside his apartment but the agent's voice stops him.
"One day, Mills, we're going to catch you hands down. And when that happens, we'll have no problem throwing your ass with all the brothers and sisters of the people you killed that are rotting in prison because of you."
Agent Stone pushes his partner aside and continues talking. Mills has turned completely around and is now looking straight into the eyes of the agent.
"We know that you have killed people for your own satisfaction. The Lunacchio's, Colitri and his guys, Travis, Christian... Stryker was right. Your an absolutely crazy fuck who wants nothing more than to kill for money."
"Best not be talking slander there, I-"
"FUCK YOU! FUCK YOUR POLITICS! FUCK YOUR BULLSHIT! YOU ARE A NO GOOD PIECE OF SHIT WHO HURTS PEOPLE! YOU MAKE PEOPLE'S LIVES A MISERY WITH YOUR LIES!"
Nicky stands open mouthed at the tirade Stone just lashed out at him. The agent steps towards him and the two come within inches of each other as Stone takes a deep breath to calm himself down.
"You... are a fucking scumbag. And when we finally catch you for all the shit you've pulled, you have nowhere to go. And guess what? Anderson will bury you."
Nicky stops, completely stunned at what the agent has just blurted out. However, his reaction is not that of violence or anger but merely manages to turn around and walk back into his apartment, shutting the door in the agents faces. Upon entering the room, Nicky flips open his cell phone and begins dialling a number. He then puts his mouth onto the receiver and begins talking.
"It's Mills. I don't have time for any games right now. You and me need to meet to discuss something that's just cropped up. Meet me at the next TNT show. You find when and where. Call me."
Mills hangs up the cell phone and tries to put together what Jamie Anderson either testifying or coming after him will do. Their relationship did not end good, so to speak. Is he co-operating?
Better yet, has he been green-lit?
