April Attack III
Part II: Eric Baxter
The scene opens two days after the events of TNT Mayhem and the realization of the wrestling fans that Nicky Mills is the new champion of the company, beating Nic Totopoulous for the new championship just a week after the High Rollers shockingly left the company has not still settled in. Also, the reality of what Mike Wilson did on Mayhem is still raw and many fans feel betrayed about the events that Macintosh Rogers turned on his manager, Reed Harrington. But the great ending that we saw was overshadowed by the gate crashing of the One Winged Angel. But the fact still remains that Mills is the new TNT Heavyweight champion and that at April Attack III, he will face off with Eric Baxter, the winner of the title contender match.
Opening into an unknown room full of press reporters from the United Wrestling Alliance, TNT Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, CNN, FOX News, and such others, a stage has been set up which has a table and some chairs. This looks to be a press conference staged by TNT as the reporter himself is sitting closely to the actual stage. In the middle of the tables are all of the microphones from the reporters there. People are murmuring between themselves when suddenly the room lights up as TNT owner Andrea Williams walks into sight. She is wearing a dark black suit and a standing out white tie while her hair rests on her shoulders. She approaches the table and sits where all the microphones are. All the reporters begin shouting questions but she raises her hand for silence, and the aura of the buff security guards ready to remove anything loud or distracting certainly puts them in their place. She clears her throat before she begins to speak to the press.
Andrea Williams: I'd like to thank everyone for attending this conference today, as there are some important announcements I must make. I will take any questions you may have now.
Looking around, the TNT owner points to the 'Pro Wrestling Illustrated' reporter, a small grey haired man possibly in his mid thirties.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated Reporter: Todd Pentangle, Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
It's been reported that TNT Wrestling 'invaded' the United Wrestling Alliance at their pay per view, Street Festival and were there to take back the championship belts that the High Rollers had taken on their departure. After this, it was reported that because Jimmy Vetalo had 'faked' the belts, that they were about to be punished heavily for this and have therefore sent the championships back to TNT Wrestling. Would you like to comment on this?
First of all, I was not informed about this so called 'invasion' by the people who were there, the Disciple members James Sanderson and Joe Shmoe and Nicky Mills had taken the liberty to do so. I know that Mills is not fond of the company and has expressed his hate many times for the way he was treated there. But I have sat down with him and told him about the possible repercussions this could have with future business.
Were the wrestlers reprimanded for their actions?
No, and I have a very good reason for this. We are now on very good terms with the UWA and we apologised for what happened before their Pay Per View. Since the matter has been resolved because the High Rollers were not good businessmen and committed theft when taking our property, so we see no reason to punish the wrestlers for an act that was probably deserved. But all matters have been settled and we just hope to move on. Next question.
A reporter, a medium heighted blonde haired woman stands up and she is from 'TNT Wrestling'. Andrea points to her and she wastes no time in asking her question.
TNT Wrestling Reporter: Julia Simmons, TNT Wrestling. There are rumours that the Eurasian title which Nicky Mills currently holds has been relinquished as a result of the rule that no wrestler is allowed to hold the belt while the World champion. Are these rumours true, and if so, how will the belt be decided?
I...
Unknown: I'll field this one, Andrea. If you don't mind. I've got some stuff to say anyway as the roster's leader...
The reporters look as the TNT Heavyweight champion steps onto the stage with a pair of black sunglasses, a custom made cream white tuxedo, and holding the new championship belt on his shoulder, he shakes hands with Andrea, who gladly lets him take the seat where all the microphones are positioned at. Nicky smiles before speaking. He also has the Eurasian championship on the other shoulder and places it in front of him for all to see.
Nicky Mills: First of all, thank you to all those who attended. I'm sorry for my lateness, but I had some business to attend to before coming here today. To answer your question, those rumours are true. I actually wanted to hand this belt to Nic Totopoulous because of the match we had, and I didn't want to leave him with nothing. But yes, I am forced to relinquish this belt because it states in the rules that the wrestler holding the World championship cannot hold the Eurasian championship at the same time. So, I guess this belongs to the company now.
Mills picks up the title and hands it to Andrea Williams, who takes it and then shakes his hand. It's official. The Eurasian championship belt has been relinquished and is now officially 'VACANT'.
Good luck finding a better champion than me, though. Next question.
Pointing to a CNN reporter, a male black haired and very small, he clears his throat before speaking his question.
CNN News Reporter: Thomas Burkehill, CNN News. A wrestler known by the name of Michael Wilson on his official website made a rather serious accusation about you being part of a rumoured gang called the 'Dynasty Hitmen'. He was quoted to have said "There are so many things about his past that people know but choose to ignore. He is a member of the Dynasty Hitmen or whatever the hell they are called, and from what I have heard, all they do is go around killing people. He has been linked to the bombing of the SkyDome, the murder of his brother, amongst many other things" How do you respond to these rather serious accusations?
Nicky seems rather un-nerved and annoyed that this question has been answered. He probably doesn't know about this and takes a second to take it in before speaking.
What he said was absolutely ridiculous. He made the same accusation at the Mayhem show about the Toronto Skydome, now known as the Rogers Centre. I apologize for the families of the victims of that tragedy for having the pain brought back to them by this man. First of all, the accusations have never been true. I'm sorry that he lost a father and a brother, but blaming me for it is disgusting. And I've never heard of these 'Dynasty Hitmen'. The Dynasty were merely a wrestling stable in UWA and TNT, and nothing else. For him to fabricate such things, it's un-nerving. Maybe he has a mental disability that he refuses to have seen to. He has made up lies to bring himself attention and for me to have unwanted attention. And to call my older brother' death a 'murder' sickens me even more. This man likes to dig inside my private life and see what he can find to bring to people' attention. Or maybe the news coverage that was put on it...
But your entire family is dead. That is a little suspicious.
I'm very much aware of that. My little brother was killed in some wrestling stunt which I was jailed for after I killed the man who was responsible for his death. THAT was murder! My older brother, Thomas Mills, was a convicted paedophile known as 'Stryker' by his victims who came out of jail and he blamed me for everything and when the CIA received some fabricated footage of me being responsible for two police officers' death inside a New York Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. One of them just happened to be a New York detective working on a case of Jonny Fly, and so they put two and two together, because Jonny and me reunited to form 'The Dynasty'. It's pure coincidence, but then I panicked and fled for my life. And my plane was shot down by Thomas, who was also known as 'Stryker'. After a fight between myself and him to stay alive, I killed him to defend myself. Is that murder? No. He also said something about organized crime, and I don't even know where he got that from.
Mike Wilson is a liar and his brain has been poisoned by his very own grief. He seems to have taken the whole 'bad guy' image a little too seriously and to use his fathers and brothers death as a way to get himself noticed is reprehensible. He's a great talent and he should never have been held back by Vetalo and his running bitch, Rollin Thunder, but now he wants to take it out on everyone else. And that's all I'm going to say because I don't like my private life being dug into.
The reporter sits back down and Nicky seems to be angry that he has been accused of being a murderer. Taking a drink of water from a bottle, he calms himself before he points a finger at 'FOX News' and the person, a young early twenties looking reporter with gelled back brown hair begins to speak.
FOX News: Mr Mills, I'd..
Hey, don't you guys have Rupert Murdoch as your boss?
Yes, we do...
Are you SURE your not biased?
Excuse me, but I can assure you we are not biased in any way.
Damn, have a sense of humour, will you? Okay, ask away.
Alright. With your Hollywood career currently on standby, are there any plans to return to either television or film acting?
Mills sits back and takes a sip from a bottle of water before looking at the reporter and begins to speak once again.
At the moment, I am currently away from acting. There may be a time where I will step back into that line of work. I've been offered a lot of movie parts, but it's just not where I'm interested right now.
The reporter sits back down and the 'TNT Wrestling' reporter raises her hand. The TNT World champion points to her and she stands up and begins to ask her question.
How about your opponent, Eric Baxter? He's had quite a lot to say about you in his latest promo. And about One Winged Angel being the special referee, how do you feel about this?
Nicky thinks to himself for a second before he talks into the microphones.
As an athlete, I have a lot of respect for Baxter. As a person, he's one of those preachers that starts to say the same old rubbish time and time again. He's been TNT champion and that's great. He talks about this circle of five with Stonehart, Jonny Fly, Nic Totopoulous, Sean Segrada and...himself. Sean, fine. He beat me fair and square and he's one hell of a talent. One of the greatest I've ever had the pleasure of facing inside a ring. Nic, definatly. Totopoulous showed me this Sunday how brilliant a wrestler and a competitor he is. Jonny Fly, one of the best ever. I hope he gets out of his situation and comes back to the squared circle. Stonehart, um...I don't know. Stonehart sold out to the High Rollers. That's the very worst betrayal you can get for TNT and he was kicked out. The respect I once had for him died when he sold his soul to those brainless no talented morons. He made a bad career move. Baxter, on the other hand, I have small respect for, as a person, and he isn't one of TNT's greats, sad to say.
He has ridiculous ideologies that I can't get my head around. I'm an embarrassment? I'm red eyed? Weary? I pull strings? Oh give me a break. He's talking more crap than Rollin Thunder on speed. The guy doesn't know what he's talking about. If I'm being cocky, then how about this? That I'm the champion, the man that beat Nic TWICE for the Eurasian and the World belt. I'm also the man that's been getting all the attention because the fans known talent. He can think whatever he likes, and say whatever he likes. It's never true. He's the new Baghdad Bob of TNT Wrestling, replacing Thunder.
Baghdad Bob? You mean the guy who used to lie all the time?
Precisely. He's such a liar that you can see right through him. You know whatever he comes up with is complete crap. It was all negative followed by more bashing. It's like reading a Bret Hart column. Eric Baxter may be a great athlete, but he's no Nicky Mills. He never will be. Is that cocky enough for him? Or maybe I should remind everyone on how he hanged onto the coat-tails of me and Segrada in Revolution. Yeah, when me and Sean, and me being managed by Cosmos, he tried to get attention. I respected him then, but this new attitude he comes out with sickens me. Nobody's even rooting for him. They want to see me retain, and that is exactly what is going to happen. I hope me and Eric tear up the place, but he's not ending my reign in a week. I've worked too long and hard busting my ass in the ring for him to take that all away from me just because he thinks I'm an embarrassment in the ring, which is such a big lie it's laughable. I suppose this will bring on yet another complaint about my 'tainted' win because of...him. Listen, asshole, I will never like him. He is not my 'boy', and you making that reference goes to show how low your going to sink to piss me off, which your not doing. But there's one thing that might cost me the belt. It wont be Baxter, but the referee...
One Winged Angel. Jeremy Cundiff. Jeremy Cundiff. Jeremy Cundiff. Get it through your thick skull. Your not an evil preacher. Your a weed smoking fun loving guy. You always have been. I remember we literally kicked the crap out of each other in TNT. I was an asshole back then, and me and him had some of the most brutal matches ever. And we formed the Devils Advocates, but then something happened. Something that I have no idea about. You came back as this 'preaching' piece of shit who thinks he deserves a title shot just because he beat up Marcus James. Bullying is not a way to get it done. How he managed to get that little stipulation is beyond me. I'll tell him this, and I hope he listens up. Your not costing me shit. I'm winning and walking out champion, with or without your official declaration.
Eric, good luck, but your not winning. Nah, you'll be my first successful defence. And that's a promise and a guarantee. So don't get your hopes up. This conference is over.
Nicky stands up and salutes the press before taking his World title and slinging it over his shoulder, begins to walk out of the room. The press hound questions but nobody responds to them as the scene slowly fades to black.
Opening somewhere in New York City, the scene fades into a very well lit large living room and we see a figure sitting on a leather couch drinking at a small glass of scotch with ice. Two associates of his stand on both sides of the room while he continues to drink away by himself, not exchanging a word with any of his associates but just thinking to himself. Suddenly, the double doors of the living room swing open and three tuxedo wearing men walk into the room accompanying a very large old man towards the man sitting on the couch, who's eyes merely glide over at the presence of the men.
The small old man is none other than Don Lunacchio, with his right side of his face burned and disfigured. He walks over to the man on the couch with a limp and opens his arms for a hug, but the man refuses to move and merely lights a cigarette instead. Lunacchio takes this as a sign to sit down and he opens his mouth to speak.
Don Lunacchio: So your the big dog around here now. Robert Burke.
Opening the half empty bottle of scotch on the table and filling up his glass, he takes out his cigarette and holds it with his left hand, while drinking the whiskey with his right hand. But he then puts the glass down and speaks to the old withered man.
Robert Burke: Aren't you supposed to be dead?
I'm still alive. I remember the fact that you are only running New York because of my family's demise, Mr Burke. So your on borrowed time.
The man doesn't get angry but his eyes merely stare a hole into the eyes of the old man, full of warning and hate. His face turns to one of disgust and he takes a puff of his cigarette before responding to the father of the Lunacchio family.
Please. You were too busy mourning the loss of your drug mules and trying to have Mills killed to notice I've been running things in New York for quite some time.
Don Lunacchio screams and smashes his fist on the table, but Robert Burke doesn't move an inch. He merely takes another drink of whiskey while the Don begins trembling with anger.
His name is not to be mentioned. I hate him for tearing my family apart. He is lowlife scum.
But he makes money. You do not. So if I were you, I'd cut out the whole 'old Italian Mafia' bullshit right now. Your not a threat any more, and your family is dead and buried. So you have no say whatsoever anymore.
You know nothing of my family, so don't even think to mention it.
Shut up. Now let's talk business. I was interrupted from an important meeting, so this had better be good.
Burke looks at the withered Lunacchio and takes another sip of whiskey while he waits for him to speak.
You have a dealer in your pack that I have some business to settle with.
I see.
I want him dead. That rat piece of shit is still alive, and he's first on my list after I whack your dealer, who he gave that scumbag the guns to kill all of us. I'm informing you that your...dealer...won't be operating.
Excuse me? You don't make orders. I do.
Dead.
No.
Morte.
For moments, the two men look to be trying to eyeball each other, their stare not breaking as both men look to be ready to kick off. Burke is calm and collected but Lunacchio is shaking with pure anger and rage and looks ready to do anything.
I know your referring to Jonny Fly. He killed your family, but from what I know, you started some business yourself. You killed a man's brother over some stupid debts. You then tried to have him killed. The families only went along with it because they trusted you and liked you guys so much. But then him and Mills ran your stupid family apart, killed your son, your consigliore, your right hand man, and anyone who got in their way from your family. But you were supposed to be dead. So you should have stayed dead. The facts are, your not doing anything.
What?! How dare you give me orders, you fuck!
Jonny Fly is my dealer, and so, he isn's to be touched. Nor is Nicky Mills.
And since when do you have any say in what I do? I could whack Jonny anytime I wanted.
And then I'd finish the job that they couldn't and have you begging for your miserable life. I'm not intimidated by you, Mr Lunacchio, and frankly, you are a disgrace. Since Jonny is my property, I control him and he is a dealer for my business, so your not touching him. I have business with Mr Mills, and so I don't want that to be interrupted. He is part of something with me now, and so you'll just have to sit back and stew your hate somewhere else.
FUCK YOU, YOU SHIT! NOBODY TALKS TO ME LIKE THAT!
Don Lunacchio pulls out a silencer gun and points it at the head of Burke, while the bodyguards of Burke swing into action and pulling out their machine guns, point them at Lunacchio, who's guards are pointing their guns at the guards of the New York drug leader. A tense standoff is occuring but Burke doesn't move a muscle, and merely begins talking.
Your family is dead, and I don't appreciate having a gun pointed at me. So I'm going to leave, and you can leave as well. If I find that Jonny Fly or Nicky Mills are harmed in any way, I'll see to it that all of your precious remaining 'family' are dead along with you. I believe your son has a son of his own. Josh, isn't it? Around eight or nine years old. Would you like him to join his father?
This threat seems to have hit home heavily on the Lunacchio boss who drops his weapon and sits back down. Burke smiles and taking a puff of a cigarette, stands up.
I didn't think so. Good day, Mr Lunacchio.
Robert Burke then leaves the room and Don Lunacchio begins sobbing with tears pouring through his eyes. The bodyguards of Burke then proceed to leave a swell. The scene fades to darkness, but not before the voice of the Don begins to be heard through his sobbing...
It's not over yet....I won't let you win...
