Shamrocks bounce back
30 April 2007 - Shamrocks recorded a comprehensive win over Sarsfields to remain in contention for Gaelic Football�s senior mens Brisbane Shield at Willawong over the weekend. Brisbane�s western suburbs Shamrocks beat Sarsfields 8-8-32 to 1-8-11, after splitting the results against Souths and John Mitchels in previous weeks. Best players were Steven Halpin at mid field, reigning club best and fairest winner David O�Malley and David Lynott at half back. In the ladies, Trish Brown scored 2 goals 2 points to be best for Shamrocks in its loss to Sarsfields. Sally Cooper and Lyndal both added 2 points to also be amongst the best. Shamrocks play Harps at Gaelic Park, Willawong, in week four of the Brisbane Shield this Sunday.
9 February 2007 - 2007 starts for Shamrocks with the first training at 7pm Tuesday 13th February at the Western Districts Community & Sporting Club, 55 Queenscroft Street, Chelmer. But the formal Annual Sign-On will then be on 5pm-7pm Saturday 17th February with at the Indooroopilly Pig �n� Whistle, Indooroopilly Shopping Town. Meet all your new team mates and supporters there. After 24 years since Shamrocks was founded originally called Wests, Matt Walsh takes over as president of the club for which his father John Walsh was a player and manager for many years. Walsh junior�s appointment was confirmed at the club�s AGM at the Indooroopilly Pig �n� Whistle recently. Matt Walsh played for Shamrocks in both the 1995 and 2000 Queensland championship winning sides, while his father John Walsh played in the championship sides of the 1980�s and was the team manager in the 1980�s and early 1990�s. 1 January 2007 - THE annual general meeting of the Shamrocks Gaelic Football Club Incorporated is at the Pig �n� Whistle this Saturday night. �The AGM for the Shamrocks Gaelic Football is to be held on Saturday 6th of January at 7pm at the Pig n Whistle Indooroopilly,� 2006 president William F. Rockett has declared. �Although this date is very early in the year it will give the 2007 committee the best opportunity to plan for the year ahead.� �Due to, at this point unknown work commitments, I will be standing down from my current position as club president and I will not be nominating for any position on the Shamrocks committee.� �I believe that both the Shamrocks Club and the QGFA are at cross-roads, and a number of decisions need to be made about the future of the game and what directions it is headed.� �To this point I would call upon any interested Shamrocks members who want to get involved make themselves available to attend this AGM and nominate themselves for positions within the club. If your not able to attend but are interested in take role within the club please let this be known.�
