Dawn is rising on the new season

Training night at Jindalee this week3 April 2002 - Brisbane's western suburbs Shamrocks Gaelic Football Club enters the new Queensland season starting this week as defending champions in two competitions.

The pre-season is now complete with Shamrocks expected to play East Celts in the opening matches at Willawong on Sunday April 7.

Shamrocks start the year holding the senior mens Brisbane Shield, and as reigning ladies Queensland Champions.

East Celts could be difficult opponents for the west Brisbane club. Easts have been senior mens Championship finalist in two of the last three years, and the club beat Shamrocks in both the Reserves and Ladies matches on the opening day last year.

Shamrocks are a founding club of the Queensland Gaelic Football Association formed 20 years ago.

The club trains every Wednesday night (pictured) at the Jindalee Recreational Reserve, Wongaburra Street, Jindalee. Queensland league matches are played at Gaelic Park, Bowhill Road, Willawong, on Sundays through to September.

New players, coaches and supporters are welcome and should telephone 3374 3130 or register on-line.

The season draw will be published as soon as it is confirmed by the QGFA.
