| Dublin�s History _____________________________________________________________________________________________ The name Dublin comes form the words dubh-linn, which means muddy, black pond. 5000 years ago the first settlers settled down by the Dublin-bay. Later the monks arrived and build small convicts and churches where the Liffey- and the Poodle-rivers meets. Also on this place lay a muddy, black pond. In the year 841 the Vikings came, but were later on driven away. In 919 they came back and won the battle of Dyflinn, which they named the village. |
