Ukyo was friends with Ranma a long time ago. She liked him way back then. Ranma thought she was a he and nicknamed her Ucchan. Genma engaged Ukyo to Ranma so Ukyos dad would throw in the Okonomiyaki cart as a dowry. They left on Ranmas decade long training mission leaving Ukyo behind feeling scorned. Ridiculed, Ukyo decided to go to an all-boys school and dress like a boy, all the while tracking down Ranma. When she found him at his present high school they fought and Ranma found out she was a girl. He told her she was cute and she fell in love with him again. She now acts more feminine and spends her time cooking for Ranma.
