Joey was once a part of a bird rescue. I was asked if Joey could be a decoy bird in order to recapture a sulfur crested cockatoo. We had been advised that the little bird had escaped a hawk, but had been injured in the process and needed to be recaptured so that she could be taken care of. So, Mattie Sue Athan and I set off to a local Monastary where the bird was last spotted.
We looked every where for her and waited her out for a few hours. Some photos of Joey were taken and this is one of them. A hawk tried to dive for Joey, but realized his mistake when Joey turned out to be bigger than him.
We were successful in capturing her. She underwent surgery to reset her hip and she is now living with someone who loves her. As far as I know she is doing just fine. If you lose a bird, never give up on it. Stay in the area.
