Alti is the evil shamaness and ex-Amazon who appeared in Xena's life when Xena was only interested in conquest. In the TV series, she first appears in a 'flashback' scene in the two-episode story entitled "Adventures In The Sin Trade".
In this episode, the now good Xena uses the shaman techniques to go into the land of the dead in an effort to find her friend and soul mate Gabrielle. She goes into a trance..... |

In the flashback we learn about Xena's early life with Borias. Together they headed a large conquering army, but they did not always agree about the methods to be used. Xena was always the one who wanted to use force rather than diplomacy.
But one thing she never did. She never killed a child. |

|
|
|
It was during a period of rest that Alti arrived at their camp. Somehow she knew that Xena was pregnant (which Xena knew but had not yet told Borias). Xena became intrigued by this mystical visitor and they became friends, despite warnings from Borias that no good would come of it.
Alti also revealed that the Amazons had dismissed her from their tribe because she had become too powerful and because she would have taken them in a direction they did not want to go. She told Xena that if they worked together then Xena would become "destroyer of nations". |

Alti tempted Xena further along the path of evil for a while. However, Alti was no match for the beautiful and powerful Cyane (left), who was able to beat Alti in a contest of psychic energy.
We learn in this and other stories how Xena changes her view of Alti, and then they become bitter enemies.
Under Alti's evil influence, Xena killed some Amazons. However, in "Adventures In The Sin Trade" she helps them pass through the gates to their rightful place in the afterlife. Cyane is then able to forgive Xena for her past misdeeds and Xena becomes the Amazon nation's ally. |

webshots is a great free program I found out about recently. You can download pictures and add ones from your own files and then set it to show them on your desktop to change while you work.
If you want you can also post pictures (copyright permitting) and order mugs, mousemats etc. using those pictures. |
