| The Attempted Murder at Copperas Cove HS | ||||||
| There was a recent stabbing at Copperas Cove involving two cousins, Joe Clay Smalling Jr., the attacker and William Griffin, the victim. Joe had been stalking several girls for months and threatened to attack many of them, and kill their boyfriends. His persistant onslought of sexual harrassment, threats of rape and murder, had escaleted following a car accident he was invovled in. Two of the girls went even so far as to preparing to file a restraining order on him, one of them achieving a citation keeping him from her property. However, all of the girls had contacted the police and major school officials... no one knows what happened there. The only advice given was "Just ignore him." The police merely gave the girl the citation against him and "looked into the case." Nothing was ever seen of these alleged actions. On the Saturday prior to the attack, Joe approached one of the girls at her home, asking to borrow her dad's firearms for unknown reasons. Around the same time he also asked several other students for firearms, however was fruitless in his search. The police were contacted... no one knows what happened, apparently nothing. The following day, after receiving the information first hand over dinner, I contacted all parties involved. Regrettfully I did not contact the police, confident they would act after hearing it from the young lady invovled. That morning I wrote a letter to the school, after having informed more than three teachers, they did react however, after speaking with the school leading officer, Officer Palmer, the response was a "He is already in custody, and off school grounds." However, during lunch hours, he approached many of the girls. William had aproached his cousin, in effect, inquiring as to his recent behavior. Joe became incensed with the notion that his cousin might know of any future plans, and subsequently attacked him. Following the attack, the school has attempted to cover the story up. Aproaching some of the parties invovled and telling them to stop spreading the "rumors" of the story, as factual as they may be. As the student body, we are entitled to prevent this from happening. This site is created to get the truth out and to prevent it from happening anywhere else in the country... Times like they are, many teenagers feel more threatened and depressed. Parents being gone to war, the devastating hurricanes, etc. Please keep this message alive and get the word out to everyone else. We thank you whole heartedly, and hope you stay safe. |
