Always and Contrary

Tragedy rose when the road
climbed, long and ever back
to where once I emerged,
Eros and Agape flocked together,
earthen-residue spears adorning
the long embattled gods.

skimming e'er so near
the lily heads

Their rhyming spats retreated,
when the horse's canter synchronised,
sliding trees leant tward the ditches,
their spindly moon-drunk branches
shielding tiny derelict houses.

night-watch jasmine eyes
draw love from mountain winds;

Sacred was the night
that we sang our own dance,
I remember the night jesters
scattering sanguine, over
and around our doorstep.

'always and contrary,
glide across my petal skin.'
