Wane-edge Coffee Table by Steven Hall
Welding table/stand project. I purchased the maple used in this project back in November 2002. The price was incredibly cheap (less than $10 for both boards as opposed to the $72--$84 it might cost in the wood stores. Of course, the reason it was so cheap is that if was riddled with knots, and splits---but I felt that if you left the natural edge on the board and treated it right people wouldn't mind it so much. Also, the red flame patter around the knots was just too fantastic to pass up.

(Air dried maple, cold-rolled steel, plastic feet; 43" l x 17" w x 15" h; 2003-04).
