| During its initial turning in March 2002, a tool-catch caused this bowl to sail skyward and then bounce across the floor. The bottom recess (made to fit an expansion chuck) was torn so bad that it could not be remounted. It was consigned to a box in the basement for the summer.
In October 2002 I reworked it. I needed to turn a scrap bit of wood to match the form of the partially completed interior---creating a 'jam-chuck'. I then jammed the partially completed bowl onto the 'jam-chuck' and reformed the bottom and it's recess for the expanding chuck. I then completed the interior. The bowl is named for glass instructor Kevin Lockau who expressed his admiration for it by saying "I covet this.". (Figured maple; 6-1/2" d; 2002-10). |
