Burl Open Form by Steven Hall
A lathe-turned bowl form.

My first year instructor Stefan Smeja obtained this piece of Manitoba Maple burl in 1982 when he was a second-year student at Sheridan and since then it had been soaking in a bucket in his garage.

During a spring cleaning, he passed the bucket with burls on to me. This is the first turning with two to go.

Burl wood has to be the pretties tumours you'll ever see.

(Manitoba Maple burl; 5-1/2" d; 2002-03).
