GETTING READY:
Key in the URL listed above for the MTA New York City Transit website. When you get to the site, find the list of items on the right side of the page under the heading Buses, and click on Maps.
On the next page, scroll down until you see a list of bus routes and click on Manhattan Bus Routes.
Under the map you’ll see a button with the number 100% and a picture of a magnifying glass. Click the button and increase the magnification to 150 or 200. Now you’re ready to take the bus around New York City!
ON THE BUS:
Your starting point is the George Washington Bridge Bus Station. From there, map a bus route to each of the places listed on the next page.
Make sure to find the map legend and study the symbols.
Also check out the listings under Places of Interest. Some of these places are destinations on your tour.
When you list a bus, start with the letter M (for Manhattan) followed by the number and color of the bus route. For example, M5 Red is a bus you can catch at the George Washington Bridge Bus Station.
There may be more than one way to get to a location. Take the route with the fewest bus changes. When you go to a new location, always start back at the George Washington Bridge Bus Station. Happy Trails!
