SITE HISTORY
March 17, 2006 Well it's been a while since I've updated the site. Don't worry, I have a ton on the way. I've just been working on some side projects that have taken up all of my non-existant time. Actually there has been a lot of updates to this site, but only in a side page that is not linked by any of my main pages. Anyway, just a reminder that the new Dr. Who Series premieres on Scifi Channel tonight at 9pm. You will have more than you want to read soon, about the "big move", and see some of the new house as well. And there's much more than that planned - until then....
September 30, 2005 It turns out James needed glases due to farsightedness. We were really prepared for a fight with him to keep them on all the time, but so far he's barely even inquired about them. I think he's just really fascinated at how much clearer he can see things. He's a smart kid. There is a good chance that he will grow out of this issue by age 7 or so. If not lazer surgery may help when he's old enough. Meantime, we're just glad we caught it in time or he may have lost sight in one eye. If you see a child's eye(s) start to drift once in a while, get them checked right away. Make sure they go to a real eye doctor. Because as we found out, there's a general test where they flash patterns into the eye that many pediatric doctors use...it is very un-reliable. Anyway, the photo is here so I don't have to email it to everyone.
In other family news, I'm an uncle again!!! My sister Vicki and her husband Bart arrive home from China tomorrow with their new daughter Susan Mei. We're all really excited and can't wait to meet her.
September 27, 2005: Well it's been almost a year and a lot has gone on so I figured I would post an update. First off, let me say that it's now been confirmed that I actually have at least 4 people who check in on this site on a non-regualar basis! That's a 50% increase in the un-confirmed reports from last year! Keep it up everyone, spread the word.
Seriously, let's see... well I just went into contract to buy a house in upstate NY. It feels strange to be moving off the island after living here (in one part or another) for my whole life. However the cost up there is much less than down here and we found a house that needs so little work done, with a good amount of land in a great neighborhood. More on this later.
Next up is the Official notification of the ending of the HOUSEQUEST! contest. Due to the overwhelming response of entrants and fan mail begging to be able to participate we kept the contest going for over two years after it's original closing date. Our processing department worked weeks of overtime to sift through the insane amount of entries (which crashed our server and locked up our email accounts many times over). In the end however I am very sad to announce that there was no one submission with the correct answer and thus there is no winner. Perhaps my superior intellect was too great for all of your feeble game-playing minds.
As far as this site goes I have not updated it visually, and some things I originally wanted to post up here I decided to hold on to so I can publish them later, so they never made it here either. In my neglect, it seems that somehow the navigation script on the HOUSEQUEST! main page seems to have stopped working. It was fine a few months ago so I can only assume there is an issue with geocities banner ads once again. Temporarily, I have removed the java and just left a normal set of links, just in case anyone actually decides they want to browse or (scary thought) play the game. I'll post some new picts in all the categories soon as well. In the meantime I've made two other sites that I may or may not have mentioned in the past. Please check out www.redpostnyc.com (where I work) and www.mikavi.com (my friends production company for some of my other works. Also head over to www.zunitch.com to see some picts of my brother running the Boston Marathon!
Long overdue is this banner ad for my friend Rich's roleplaying and internet comic site. This is the guy who won $20k in a contest a few years back for his designs on a new dungeons and dragons gaming world. Since then he has done numerous works for Wizards of the Coast and many other companies, and become a respected person for all things roleplaying. So he decided to post some of his original ideas on a webpage. As a hook to keep viewers coming back he decided to make a simple webcomic. Well wouldn't you know it, it's the comic that has taken off, and launched Rich on the road to success. With numerous recognitions from peers and books selling into the high thousands, with lines at his most recent convention appearance stretching down the asile to the wall and turning a corner, this thing took off like a rocket. It's hilarious and must be checked out, especially if you like fantasy, and/or you've ever played a roleplaying game. Go to his site and check it out. So I now present The Order of the Stick Banners:

Finally, I guess I have to mention my current projects, since that was a major thing in past posts. Well I'm about 120 small text pages into my first non-fiction book, about 7% done on a real high-quality video game that would be released with that book. And about 20% done on a game project that is Babylon 5 related. This doesn't sound like much, but I'm really into these projects and really want to see them done. Other Projects include the usual fictional stories and scripts I'm still working on, the list continues.
Well that's all for now. More sometime soon.
December 17, 2004:I have a new website email address. AOL/Netscape seems to have cancelled my account without warning me, even though I access my Netscape mail almost every day!..and they wonder why no one wants to use them anymore. That and their overly malicious advertising tacitcs, high prices, and the underhanded way they really bury the "how to cancel my subscription" info so you can't find it when you need it, really make them a less than admirable company. My how the mighty have fallen. I still think they serve a purpose, for those new to the internet they are a great place to start, but man they are really skeevy now. Their reputation is what held them afloat for ages. Now the less they talk about reputation the better. Anyway I actually know why they cancelled me. It's because I haven't used AOL Instant Messenger in ages. Why? because instant messaging sucks!!! I don't care to meet anymore phychos, 13 year olds pretending to act 20, guys pretending to be girls, or random offers for porn sites full of trojan horses ...and if I want to communicate with my friends I will call them. Seriously I don't know why it's so popular. The only time I find it helpful is in the live chat format that some companies offer for customer service.
Anyway, Happy Holidays. Things seem to be slowing down a bit going into the winter, so after the new year I'll try to give this site it's final facelift.
I ended up making a few layout and spelling corrections here as well. Still looking for a real cheap server for home and private business use. If anyone knows one, please pass on the info.
November 22, 2004: Booo, hiss! They screwed up my pages
again by inserting banners into my frames. Time for some new technology
huh guys?!!!Anyway the main purpose of this update is to test something
I need somewhere else so just forget about it.
November 11, 2004: Hey Geocities seems to have reformatted their banner ads! They no longer appear to be interfering with my frames. Thanks guys!
No other real updates to speak of, I have created an entirely new website though for my company, RED POST. Check it out at www.redpostnyc.com.
I suspect however it will soon be replaced by a flash driven site, so
check it out while you can. It's a lot more organized than this one.
That makes 3 sites under my belt. I like it so much I'm going to
re-make this site in it's image. Only using style sheets.
New pictures and stuff soon. I have a lot to put up here, but no time
to do it. Ho-hum, I guess my site is like 90 percent of the other
crappy sites on the net. Cheers!
October 31,2004: Happy Day of the Dead. My,
it's been a while. I've been writing a book, producing, directing and
editing a video, taking care of the family, working, freelancing, and
doing projects for friends. So you know...it's been slow. I've taken
down the B5 booklets to make room, as well as some old stuff. I'm sure
whomever needed them has gotten them by now. I've got a new set of
production photos from Chris K's Manual Rehab Project. It has a great
new layout. More will come sometime. I hope to replace all the pictures
on the site by the Holidays. Since last posting, I've made a very
detailed site for the company I work for. Unfortunately, you will never
see it. Someone else who actually knows what they are doing is being
paid to make a really nice flash site. You can still see all I wrote as
it will be used on their site, and I will probably kidnap the html and
layout for my own site. It was designed to look the same no matter the
resolution or browser, and to be really easily updatable. So why let it
go to waste? I still plan on getting a fully independant site, but it
will probably wait until I get more money and have something good to
put on it. That's all for now.
January 31,2004: Took out old pics to make room for some
other files. Been a little busy so I've been neglecting the site a
little. Also changed the Babylon 5 files. Speaking of which, the
Babylon5 Space Flight Sim "I've Found Her" has released a beautiful
prequel/demo. Click on banner below to check it out. Congrats to Space
Dream Factory (the designers) and thanks a ton.
November 16, 2003: Well The new family
pictures are finally here, along with a new format. I kind of like it,
although at my screen resolution I have to do some extra panning. Have
to work on that.
Have some production stills to go up next from 2 recent shoots. Then
finishing reformat and graphics. Cant do videos for space reasons right
now. They'll have to wait.
Bad news, I've noticed my Housequest! navigation bar does not show up
properly on the new Mac Safari browser. Don't know why. Guess I'm gonna
live with it for a while.
October 04, 2003: I've
been away for a while working on some big projects. One of them was a
major upgrade to the housequest! part of the site. The game pages now
feature a new
navigation section that makes it tremendously easier to find the
information you are looking for. It features maps, instructions,
background info and help for the beginner as well as advanced
player.
Of biggest relevance is the creation of 'E-VISICLUES!' an
original java script primarily used for giving multiple hints for
multiple sublects on a single page. I have not been able to find like
anywhere on the web. It took me a long time to figure out (especially
since I knew nothing of Javascript before starting) and am proud of the
result. I plan on making a story site using it in the
near future.
Oh, did I mention this script was free for anyone to take and use
themselves?!!! You can get it right here. Just follow the link.
The site continues to be slowly overhauled. I have a standard for
the pages now that I can live with for a while. I have cleaned up and
simplified the script on almost all the pages. I am still
playing with new ideas for graphics. I now have two solid ideas for
other sites I would like to do. I just want to finish up the last few
holes of this one first.
The next update will have more family pics, movies and stuff like that. Then it's on to something new.
September 01, 2003: The
HOUSEQUEST! hints page is finally working properly. However the map and
extras section are currently offline. I am really thrilled with this
page as I programmed it myself.
July 05, 2003: Quick update: my frames aren't working with
internet explorer and Geocities. They work in tests, but not when
uploaded. so here's a temporary fix until I move to a new host...which
is now a foregone conclusion.
June 28-29, 2003: Finalized frame design that I want for
now and am starting to upgrade a few pages at a time to a standard
format using CSS's. It's been slow because I got hired to
build a different site. That's been taking all of my non-existant time.
Cleaned up code on all pages. Added a Web Backgrounds page in the
Graphics section. Re-arranged the graphics on the animation
page. It now depicts a scene and the graphics are no longer separated
by spaces. I'm working on adding a desktop backgrounds page, and
re-designing the HouseQuest! hints page. Look for a major
upgrade to HouseQuest! itself soon. The videos will be up on the family
page as promised, but I need more storage space to post them, so
they're on hold until I shrink the size of all the other
pages. Finally, I continue to re-design all pages and graphics.
May 25-31, 2003: Baby James has finally arrived! Check
out the pictures and video on the family page. The contest for
HouseQuest! continues. Details on the HouseQuest! page. Starting to
redo site. I've learned frames! - a peek at what's to come. Took all
the extra backgrounds and put them on a page by themselves. (coming
soon) They are free to download and use. Working on some other big
changes.
March 18-21, 2003: Check out the new contest for
HouseQuest! Details on the HouseQuest! page. Finally put up the
beginnings of the family page (see pics). More to come on that front.
Made some new backgrounds. Been busy so upgrades here are slow. Added
concepts section. Moved site history to ISN where it should have been
all along.
February 23, 2003: Changed layout of index page.
Added Graphics map. Added some to "best of..." page and upgraded it to
an html style sheet so it looks the same on most
browsers and takes up less space.
February 05-07, 2003: Updated housequest twice.
Look for a major upgrade to it soon. Added a "Best free downloads on
the internet" page. I list only the programs I like the best and
tell you why. Trying new HTML Editor. Cleaned up html on index page.
January 03, 2003: My first 100% original video
game is here! "HouseQuest!" is a text adventure I wrote a long time ago
and recently got it working on the PC. I present it to you all
now, free to download, as a gift. Happy New Year.
November 05-06, 2002: Added a page of original
graphics I made here and there. they're just here for fun. Feel free to
take them for yourself (non-commercial use only), but if you do
email me and let me know. Thanks. Also updated home and back buttons.
Added summary copyright.
October 22, 2002: Minor corrections. The links in
the Jumpgate have been fixed and a new promotional added. New
background for Beer convention pages, I didn't like having one here I
didn't create.
October 14, 2002: The new site Officially
launches. Don’t know what I can put here yet but it will grow in time.
I will be designing the site slowly over time. First I have to
choose a theme I like, and then, of course, stick with it. So, where
does that leave us...a site that doesn’t really have anything on it
that doesn’t really relate to anything, what else
is new? Anyway, welcome.
LOGON DECLARATION
Well we’re back online! A new site,
a new format, some facelifts, and some useful info. Hopefully this will
now happen on a more frequent basis. This site
was put together using some files I was working on a while ago, so
there isn't really any new stuff yet. But there will be as soon as I
can get to it. Lots of heavy news and massive face lifts to the
site will be appearing soon. Watch for it.
Running To Stand Still, The Independent film By Gary Waldinger And
Peter Zunitch made it's debut re-appearance at the New York
International Film Festival all those
long years ago.. Those who saw it said it was a good film.
YEA!! The ending graveyard scene was also recently submitted for
the Project Greenlight (2) contest in the “directing
style” catagory. Currently an effort is underway to replace all of the
music that is not original so that in the future we can to try to get a
cable broadcast on a station who regularly deals
in Film shorts and independent films. Other distribution plans
are in the works for other film festivals and possible distribution to
Domestic Studies classes and the like, once the music
change is complete. Keep watching here for updates, newsletters and the
latest news on this film and other productions.
WhoHaa Day, the Zunitch family holiday was on August 19. "Whohaa" to you all.
Share your creativity and storytelling! The site is looking for
postings for an upcoming original writings section. Send any
ORIGINAL writings of any kind to us that you would like to see posted
on the web site. All submissions will remain the property of the
original writers, however by sending it to us, you agree to let us use
your work on this or any future affiliaed site, for promotions and
printings in any medium related to it in the future. All works are
posted at my discretion. Works may be of any length, but shorter pieces
work better on the web
ABOUT THIS SITE
I've gone through many stages of learning to build a website. I've
tried AOL Builder, Netscape Composer, Typing my own html in Word, and
all of them really rot. Some are buggy, some leave extraneous code all
over, some are way too inflexable to do anything but somple text. some
just take too long. Then I thought I'd learn the industry
standards...Dreamweaver, Front Page, damn they are all too expensive
for a person like me who just wants to do some fun site creation.
So I've done a ton of searching and reviews on the net and found that
the 1st Page 2000 program was not only a great program, but free. So
finally equipped with a tool worthy of using, my site is finally
evolving the way I want.
One final note about website building, be careful. What looks good on a
Netscape browser may not look good on an Internet Explorer browser, or
Mozilla etc. So make sure you program universal code and check your
site on as many different browsers as you can before you post.
