This handy kit contains all you need to make quick repairs. When closed, it fits into a tiny corner of your suitcase.

Materials:

12 in (30.5 cm) square of fabric
12 in (30.5 cm) of co-ordinating cotton print fabric
12 in (30.5 cm) square of white felt
1 3/8 yd (1.2 m) of ½ in. (1.3 cm) wide white bias binding
4 x 2 ¼ in (10 x 6 cm) piece of clear strong plastic
Two small pieces of touch and close fastening
Matching thread
Pinking shears
Transparent tape

Following measurements on diagram, cut out the basic shape in both of the cotton fabrics and in white felt. Neatly round off all the projecting corners.
Pin and baste the wrong side of the print fabric shape to white felt shape.
Using pinking shears, from white felt cut out one piece 4 x 2 ¼ in (10 x 6 cm) and one piece 3 ½ in x 2 in (9 x 5 cm) for needle and pin case. Pin and baste felt pieces, with smaller piece centered on top, in position shown on diagram. Zig-zag stitch down center, forming “pages.” Using pinking shears, cut out a triangle of white felt to fit small scissors. Pin baste in place on right-hand section. Zig-zag stitch in place, leaving top edge open.
Round off the corners on one long side of plastic piece to form pocket. Stick plastic pocket to lower section with a piece of tape. Zig-zag stitch in place, along side and bottom edges.
Using pinking shears, cut out a strip of white felt 4 x 2 ½ in (10 x 4 cm) for pocket flap. Pin, baste and zig-zag stitch in place above plastic pocket.
Below needle case, stitch tape to hold spools of thread. Turn under raw edges at one end of seam binding to fabric, making three 2 ¼ in (6 cm) long loops for spools. Turn under other end of binding. Make sure that the spools will fit into the loops, then stitch binding in place between loops.
Make two binding loops the same way on the left-hand section, to hold a tape measure and seam ripper.
Place the gingham fabric on felt side of print/felt shape; pin and baste around outer edge. Bind the outer edge all the way around with bias binding.
Sew small pieces of fastening to hold side sections together when folded in over center section. Repeat on top and bottom flaps for closing them over side sections.
Make a small bow from seam binding and sew it in the center at the outside of top flap. Snip V’s into bow ends.
