Materials:

88 Lolly Sticks

Craft Glue

5 Beads or glass Pebbles

Method:

Take 20 of the lolly sticks and lay them out side by side in two sets of 10, like this;

One of these will become the base, the other will become the lid.

Take 4 more of the sticks and apply craft glue to the length of one flat side of each of them to within approximately 3/4" of each end.

Apply one of these sticks across each end of your two blocks of ten, once again approximately 3/4" form each end, like this,

go get a cup of "T" or Coffee and allow just a little time for the glue to start to set.

Leave one of your sets to the side, and on one set only start building up layers of lollysticks, 2 to each layer, like this, first across one end of the set;

and then again across the original end, until you have completed 10 layers on each end, like this;

It is very Important to try and keep your work square at this stage, minor adjustments can be done before the glue dries, but it is better to keep it square and straight as you go along.

Ok, now you've come this far and you are nearly done, just leave this peice to set for a little while and in the meantime go back to the other set that you left aside, this is to become the lid.

Take your lid like this;now cut a little off each end of your last 4 lolly sticks,

so that they fit within the battens on the lid, like this;

apply them 2 to each side, one on top of the other. These will act as stops and prevent your lid from slipping off.

Turn your lid over so that you are looking at it from above, take one of your beads, or glass pebbles and apply a blob of glue to one side, apply the bead to the centre of the lid, this will act as a knob, and decorate your lid as you wish too, sometimes I use gold or silver stickers or bits of lace, or you may just wish to keep it plain. It should now be looking something like this;

Ok, now set your lid to the side to dry and take up your base.

Carefully turn your base over, you will have to be real gentle with it, it wont be fully set yet, apply a blob of glue to each corner and stick the last 4 beads on,

these form the feet of your trinket box, turn your box back upright and it should look like this;

Try the lid gently onto the box, to ensure that it fits correctly, make minor adjustments if it doesn't. Leave both parts to set, preferably overnight.

Once dry put your trinkets into your box close the lid and off you go, your completed item should resemble this;
