You will need:

Small box~could be a paper mache box, unfinished wood, a small inexpensive basket with a lid, or as simple as a cigar box.
fabric for lining about 8"by 6"
 ribbon, trim, buttons, lace doily, sequins, jewels, patchwork, anything you find fitting , may need some batting to pad the top.
hot glue gun

 A sewing box project is adaptable to any skill level and can be as elaborate or as simple as you like. It makes a nice quiet afternoon project for a child with supervision with the glueing.
For Mom's who are not into the sewing scene, it can be used for make-up, a traveling jewelry box or as a dresser box for trinkets.
