Cross Stitch Cross Bookmarker! Supplies Needed: Plastic or Heavy Gauge Cross Stitch Fabric (med. to small squares) ample amounts depending how many you wish to make. 1 cross stitch needle with large eye. 2 ply yarn or heavy cotton material of your choice. (mixed colors or colors of your choice) scissors (ADULT SUPERVISION) Instruction how to make: 1. First cut out a square from your plastic or cloth material for cross stitch a square measuring 5 inches long and 3 1/4 inch wide. 2. From the left side of this square cut across just over to the 8th hole of the material and down just to the 8th hole. Repeat this for the right top corner of the other side of your square. 3. Now counting down from the edge of the top cut, count down leaving 5 holes. . And cut along the 5th hole edge over to the 8th hole same as the top one, then down to the bottom edge. Do opposite side the same. Now you have your Cross Pattern. 4. With your cross stitch needle thread about 1 yard of yarn or thread into needle. 5. Beginning at the 3rd top square, begin looping the yarn around the outer edge of the cross holes going thru the holes at a diagonal pattern, til your back at the top where you began and tie it off. This forms a Border on the Cross. 6. Begin in the bottom 3rd middle hole to the 5th hole opposite with yarn or thread and continue around the middle of this square til you have formed a starburst flower design. Continue to do this pattern til you have done 5 squares going across and 8 going down. Now your Cross Bookmark is finished!! 7. Cut one square from remaining material for a small square of 5 hole up and 5 holes down, then do this in the same manner with your yarn as you did the Cross. 8. Now measure a piece of the yarn approx. 3 1/2 to 4 inches long to use to connect the square and the cross together with ..Making a loop tie into the 3rd hole in the top of the Cross and then tying the remaining end to the corner end of the small square which will look like a diamond shape after its tied.
