Growing Pains

Growing pains are a part of all aspects of your life, including your spiritual development.  Starting in my late teens, I would experience a steady building of energy.  It would make me restless and bring out base instincts in me that were animalistic in nature. I would seek escape and solace.  I would often grab my bike and try to ride the energy, or perhaps run from it, as it was a power I was unsure of.   As I grew into adult hood, these traits became more definable, a need to prowl and to hunt.  It was always at night.  I would usually withdraw and seek solace till the energy subsided.  But it never departed.  It was like a pilot light inside me that burned.  As I advanced in my spiritual training so too did this heat which centered between my Sacral and Solar Plexus..  The �episodes� would last longer and the ability to withdraw from it became harder, the need to mate with �one� became a new aspect of the process.

One night, I did not fight the call � but alone in my apartment I allowed the energy to flow.  It was this night that I would meet Jaguar Spirit.  The process is extremely personal, the energy when allowed to build is painful and intense, and as a result will not be shared over this medium.  I have come to understand that elements of this process is considered Kundalini Rising, and while I do believe it plays a part in the process, I now understand that there is more to the experience.  Shape-Shifting.  I always felt the shift internally, however it took two �Shaman� of different disciplines (South American/Vodun) to point out to me that they noticed my shift at two separate occasions; during a trance dance, and at a fire gazing ceremony.

Jaguar Spirit is more than my totem.  She is an aspect of my spiritual makeup, and part of my past-lives, my present and my future.  She is the medicine within me to heal, and the warrior in me that protects.
