CONGRESS LOST IN MADIKERI CMC

Madikeri Sept. 30 The congress party rule ended in Madikeri City Municipal Council. BJP obtained highest seats. But, it can administer if 3 independents or other party councilors support for majority. BJP secured 13 seats out of 31.Congress experienced heavy hit from the voters. It has to be satisfied with 9 seats only. The ex. CMC president Kaveramma Somanna, the ex. Conuncillors K.M.Ganesh, Philomina, B.A.Ramaiah, lost. The Independent candidate Pratibha Arun Shetty defeated Kaveramma Somanna , the ex president and also Monti Ganesh, the ex councilor from BJP in a triangular contest. . Mohan Monnappa, Bebi Poovaiah,Monthi Ganesh,P.Shajil Krishnan,,. M.K.Balakrishna and S.C.Subramani -all ex. Councillors of BJP lost the battle. Independents occupied 5 seats, ,JDS opened its’ account with 2 seats ,the S.P. and B.S.P parties secured 1 each.

Somwarpet Town Panchayath retained its BJP rule. Out of 11 seats BJP gained 6 to retain the administration. Congress obtained 4 and 1 seat won by an independent. The town panchayath ex. Presidents from BJP Leela Nirvani and Usha Tejaswi are defeated.

Virajpet Town panchayth got mixed results. A group led by Farook Rahim the immediate past president has to satisfy with a single seat. Out of 16 seats BJP and JDS secured 5 seats each. Congress got 4 seats and independents including Farook group 2 seats. The civic agitation committee which has fielded 11 contestants failed to obtain a single seat. Minimum of 6 seats is required for majority. BJP and JDS may form coalition here.

In Kushalnagar Town Panchayath Congress got the highest seat but one short of majority. Out of 13 seats congress gained 6,BJP and independents secured 3 seats each. JDS obtained a single seat. The ex. Members Dr. Radhakrishna and ex vice president Divakar are defeated.
