FISHING LEADS TO DEATH

A married youth who went fishing died in a lake at Basavanahalli at Shanivarsanthe.

According to police, K.R.Vishwanath, 21 went out fishing in a lake on 28th evening. He did not return home. His slippers were found on the banks of the river and his wife lodged a complaint with the police. The body was recovered yesterday.

Deceased leaves wife and two children. He was working in a Bar.

RAJA’S SEAT TO BE DEVELOPED WITH RUPEES ONE CRORE;

The deputy Commissioner yesterday said that the government has sanctioned rupees one crore to develop rajas seat at Madikeri.

Trekking through the hillocks of Rajas seat yesterday evening along with the officials, DC Niranjan said that he has already released rupees fifty lakhs and the remaining amount would be released in phases for the development. Rupees fifty lakh would be given through CMC, rupees 23 lakh from the horticulture department and the remaining amount from the gate collection would be pooled together.

Rajas seat would become more attractive for the tourists with two more view points, artificial water falls, flood lights and flower gardens.

Niranjan said that a lake will also be built in the second phase of work.

CEO Zilla Panchayath Sundar, engineer Satyanarayan and others were also present.


KDOAGU NOT TO CELEBRATE RAJYOTSAVA;

Kodagu existence committee has reaffirmed its stand to hold bandh on November first and boycott Rajyotsava celebration by the district administration.

Committee convenor M.N.Belliappa and deputy convenor Vasu have called upon the people to support the bandh and boycott celebration.

An appeal was also given to the deputy commissioner requesting him not to hold official function. Schools and colleges are also asked not to hold functions in connection with the rajyotsava.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Niranjan has said that it is not wise to hold bandh on Rajyotsava day and the existence committee did not hold any discussion in this regard. He said that the problems cannot be solved by holding bandhs.He opined that the committees formed by the governor will be able to solve the problem after the formation of the government.

NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP HELD;

Valedictory function of the National integration camp was held at Gaalibeedu, Navodaya Vidyalaya yesterday.

The 12 day camp was held for senior and junior division cadets from Karnataka and goa division. Cadets from many parts of the country took part. The Camp commandent Col Chandra said in a communiqué that the Integration camp will be held each year. Participants took part in different cultural activities. Lectures by experts were organized on a variety of subjects like communal harmony, integration, role of youth in building the nation, values and ethos. Debates were also organized.

Air Commander P.Rajesh rao, Deputy Director General of NCC directorate Karnataka and Goa has visited the camp on 29th.
