BOYCOT RAJYOTHSAVA-BANDH FINAL DECISIONMadikeri Oct. 26 Boycotting the kannada Rajyothsava celebrations on Nov. 1st and Kodagu bandh call on that day are unhanded according to the public representatives and Kodagu existence committee office bearers. The kumaraswamy Govt. had assured that two controversial circulars by the revenue department and one circular by the forest department regarding the Kodagu jamma lands would be withdrawn. The Kodagu existence committee had withdrawn “Vidhana Soudha chalo” after the then Chief minister confirmed the withdrawal of all controversial circulars. Till today, the Govt. has not withdrawn the circulars. The Kodagu people have to start serious agitation against the ignoring attitude by the Govt. The first step is to boycott Nov.First Rajyothsava celebrations and also to protest through Kodagu bandh on that day. This final decision is confirmed by M.L.A’s K.G.Bopaiah and B.A.Jeevijaya. M.L.C Arun Machaiah, Ex. Ministers M.C.Nanaiah and M.M.Nanaiah were also present in a joint press conference here. Virajpet M.L.A H.D.Basvaraju is not seen as he is under treatment for back ache problem at Bangalore. The leaders criticised the stubborn attitude of Jamdar, the state revenue secretary and also the Ex. Conservator of Kodagu Venkatasubbaiah who are the main persons to send these hitting circulars. They suspect the hands of these officials for not withdrawing the circulars although the then Chief Minister had instructed to them. “We were celebrating Kannada Rajyothsava day in grand manner during previous years. We have even opposed the separate statehood movement, when some orgonisations fought for that. But, now, we are so much disgusted by the negligence towards the demands by Kodagu Jamma holders and we came to conclusion to finally boycott Rajyothsava” explained the leaders. “We don’t accept the Committee constituted by the Govt to study the jamma problems in the district- the leaders disclosed. The committee includes mainly the officials instead of the public representatives. So, the Kodagu people won’t accept this official committee, the leaders opined. D.C’S REQUESTThe Kodagu deputy commissioner K.R.Niranjan has requested the agitators to withdraw the boycott and band calls. Speaking to press persons he told already Govt. has formed a committee to, study the jamma problems. Even some other eminent persons may be included in the committee if any suggestions by the public -he assured. |
