KODAVA RINK HOCKEY TO TAKE OFF;Madikeri October 23, 2007 The annual Kodava rink hockey will be held between 15 and 17 November. Addressing a press conference, the president of the Devanageri Planters Club, Viju told that the hockey tournament would be held at Virajpet. Stating that the tournament will incur a cost of rupees 1.5 lakh, Viju sought assistance from public. He said that the families can take two invited players other than from their family. The three day event will also include other sports like shooting the coconut and others to keep the gathering engaged. BETTER SOCIETY THROUGH WAR OF JUSTICEMember of the Parliament Sadananda Gowda said that a better society could be formed only through the war of justice, through ‘dharma yuddh’. He opined that the society has poisonous faces, hit by terrorism and corruption. To rid the society of this, a war of ‘dharma’ is the only solution, he said. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Dasara cultural programme at Madikeri on Sunday night. He called upon the people to build a society of harmony and love. The background of Dasara festival means destroying the evil through goodness. People should imbibe the quality to fight evil in the society to build a peaceful society, he said. Former minister Ramachandra Gowda spoke on the occasion and said that India has a unique experience of celebrating about 29 festivals in a year with pomp and gaiety. Celebrations support the effort to unite people, he said. Former central minister V.Dhanajaya Kumar addressed the gathering and said that the unity shown during celebration of festivals should be shown during day to day dealings. MLA K.G.Bopaiah presided over the function and regretted that Kodagu, considered as holy is wiping the tears of many by sending river Cauvery across the country. But the country is not recognizing the fact he said. BJP HOLDS PROTEST AT KUSHALNAGAR;Bharatiya Janata Party held protest against breaking promise by the JDs on Sunday at Kushalnagar. A procession was taken out in the main street before assembling at Gayathri Kalyana Mantap. BJP leader B.B.Shivappa spoke on the occasion and called H.D.Devegowda as an opportunist waiting to grab power by any means. People will not forgive the betrayers JDs, he said. He bombarded Kumarswamy not to have kept up his promise. Former MLC Appachu Ranjan stated that the good works and projects undertaken by the government through Yediyurappa has yielded proof and there is a BJP wave in the state. Former BJKP district president S.G.medappa and others spoke on the occasion. |
