GOVERNMENT INCREASES VALUE OF IMMOVABLE PROPERTY;

The state government has increased the land value in urban areas from thirty to sixty percent.

The central valueation committee coming under State stamp and registration department has passed an order coming into effect from October 1. The increase is applicable to Kodagu, Dharwad, Kolar, Belagaum, Haveri and Bijapur districts.

The increases in the value will double the income to government in the form of registration fees. The change is applied after verifying the topography of the region. The rate per cent which was rupees nine thousand in a village is now fixed at rupees fifteen thousand. The rate of rupees 38 thousand per acre of a barren land is now shot up to rupees 80 thousand.

THIEF CAUGHT AT CHAMRAJNAGAR;

A thief who had stolen gold from Kodagu is caught at Chamrajnagar.

According to police,Mahadevaswamy, 28 was caught in the act of stealing a pumset.

He was working in Kodagu in an estate as a Maistry. He allegedly stole hundred gram gold from the house of his owner Madappa at Kargunda village and fled, some time back.

He was trying to steal a pump set at Heggavadi near Chamrajnagar on the night of Saturday and got caught. Police enquiry revealed that he had also stolen gold from Kodagu.

Gold was kept as security to raise loan from two places at Najangud and Chamrajnagar.

Police are investigating. The accused is sent Mysore jail.
