NO PROPOSAL FOR CANCELLEATION OF GUN LICENCE EXEMPTION

Madikeri Oct. 7 No proposal is sent for cancellation of gun license exemption-clarified Dr. Trilokchandra, the superintendent of Kodagu Police. The Jamma holders of Kodagu are entitled to own the gun without license or permission from the Govt.-which is a special privilege since dynasty rule.

He reacted to the statement by Arun Machaiah, M.L.C, mentioning about the proposal by the police department to Govt. for cancellation of this special privilege. S.P. told the exemption provided during the historical period could not be cancelled. The department follows usual procedure of checking and verifying the gun licenses. Sometimes the police personnel may personally visit the houses or the verification may be done in the concerned police stations =he explained. This measure is required to control the holding of illegal weapons in the district he said.

The department has chalked out the precautionary Bando bust measures for Madikeri Dasara and Thalacauvery festival. .Thalacauvery festival falls on 18th oct. and the Dasara will be celebrated on 21st night. The department has plan to start mobile traffic control in Madikeri town very shortly. The proposals for construction of new police station buildings at Napoklu, Virajpet and also estimation for a separate women police station office are sent for approval to the Govt.- S.P. Trilokchandra disclosed with the press.

COMPLAINT SUBMITTED TO VIGILANCE

Madikeri Oct. 7 Class Iv th employees in the city municipal council submitted a written complaint to the Vigilance, Kodagu wing here. The prima fascia investigations reveals misuse of more than Rs. 20 lakhs by the staff and officials in the C.M.C.The 31 employees have paid Rs. 2 thousand each to get their arrears in the staring stage to the concerned. Huge amount is drawn on Oct. 1st from the individual accounts of these employees separately. But they did not know anything or they did not received their money! The vigilance officers will now completely verify the signatures on the drawn cheques.Meanwhile, one of the supervisors had paid Rs. One lakh to a lady worker after the issue is outburst. The investigating team has taken note of this and are questioning. The Deputy Commissioner K.R.Niranjan told that he is serious about the development and stringent action will be moved against the involved.
