BSNL TO EXTEND BROAD BAND FACILITY;

BSNL has extended its capacity to provide broader band connections in the district, according to General Manager S.R.Chandra.

Addressing scribes, he said that Madikeri has only 107 connections so far and it will be increased to 480. In all, the district will get connection for 6496 customers.

He explained the path of success the BSNL has tread since seven years and said that the first week of October is celebrated as BSNL week. He said that about 26 mobile towers would be erected in the district in the near future. Madikeri will get 9, Somwarpet 9 and Virajpet 8 towers.

Apart from this, the department will have eleven CDMVL – BTS towers to reach to the destinations where external connection cannot be given through wires passing over.

The district BSNL would get certification for the best customer service, he said. The department has eight customer service centers and 76 exchanges in the district. About 45,728 landline connections are given in Kodagu.

HOUSE WIFE DIES;

Parvathi, 35 living in a line house in an estate died as she drowned in a tank.

According to police, she was working in an estate at Cheettlli and slipped into a ten feet tank accidentally. Attempts to save her went futile and she had succumbed by the time the body was removed.
