RS. 858 CORE NABARD PLAN TO KODAGUMadikeri Nov. 29 Nabard has prepared Rs. 858 crores potential credit plan for the year 2008-09 for Kodagu district.Nabard Kodagu division Assistant General manager A.L.Kulkarni announced this in the standing committee meeting held at the Corporation lead Bank premises. Under potential linked plan the highest share of credit has gone to crop loans at Rs. 513.72 crore forming 59.8% of which crop loan to coffee crop was at Rs. 411.60 crore. The investment credit to agriculture and allied activities of Rs. 203 crore formed 23.7% of the total credit estimated under priority sector. Sector wise analysis of the investment credit estimates revealed that, the highest share of credit estimation at Rs.129.52 crore was for other priority sector, followed by plantation and horticulture at Rs. 93.50 crore, Farm mechanization Rs. 10.94 crore, land development at Rs. 10.77 crore, non farm sector at Rs. 8.50 crore and dairy at Rs. 2.87 crore. Kulkarni explained. Block wise review of projected credit flow indicated that Virajpet block had the highest share at Rs. 375.53 forming 43.7% of the total credit estimated for the district followed by Somwarpet at Rs. 255.42 crore and Madikeri at Rs. 227.98 crores he told Deputy Commissioner K.R.Niranjan released the document containing the project details. He disclosed that the district administration give priority to tourism development and providing infrastructural development like road repair and providing facilities in the tourist centres.He laso disclosed that the Homestay owners in the district are been instructed to register the names and to provide necessary facilities to tourists. Corporation Bank Assistant general manager Narendra Pai, Zilla Panchayath Deputy secretary Zulfikar Ulpha and lead bank manager Arunachala were present in the function. This was announced by the Kodava Sahitya academy president Ulliayada Dati pooviaih in a press release. Meanwhile another police complaint has been given against the academy president by K.M.Sara Chengappa,,the president of Kodava Thakk janangakarada Okkota. He complained in Ponnampet station that the president has cheated and misused the fund by overwriting the expenditure figures on the vouchers provided by Hoteliers and merchants at ponnapmet during the Drama function recently held at ponnampet. Police have registered a case and the SI Divakar is investigating. Meanwhile the world kodava mela finance committee chairman Berara Shambhu Aiyanna who is also the Bangalore Kodava Samaj president has resigned for the post. He stated that until the corruption charges are cleared he is not interested to support the cause. The Bangalore Kodava samaj also announced its’ neutral stand over the issue. KODAVAS NEED RECOGNITIONMadikeri Nov. 29 As per the three language system Kodava language should be provided representation in Karnataka. Kodavas have their own culture, tradition and language. This should be considered by the Govt. suggested Prof T.K..Oman, of Jawarlal University, New Delhi. He was addressing the gathering in a seminar held at Gonikopplal Cauvery college grounds organised by Codava National Council (CNC).. Kodagu is neglected by politicians and officials irrespective of the specialty of the community regretted Oman in his peach.Kodavas are Dravdian origins.They shoud be treated under tribal cadre.Kodagu people are paying more revenue to the Govt.But the Govt. doest not respond to provide necessary infrastructural facility in Kodagu .Roads are neglected here. No support is given for commercial crops in the district The local people here should protect the crops like orange, banana plantation and other commercial crops in addition to their language and culture-Oman opined. Kodavas should b e considered as minorities- he suggested. Kodagu people should support the CNC head N.U.Nanchappa in his fight for land language and culture-Oman called. Nachappa in his introductory speech told that CNC is fighting since 17 years for the Kodava cause.He demanded the inclusion of Kodava language in 8th schdedule of the constitution. Mass feeding by the donors was arranged for the first time in the temple premises, The chariot was moved with chanting of Jai Ganesh by more than10 thousand devotees Rudrabhisheka ,Pallakki Utsava and other poojas performed.
