JURNO PRESIDENT DIES IN ACCIDENT;

Madikeri November 22

Kodagu District journalist’s association president K.K.Shashidar died in a road accident and another injured seriously.

The accident occurred yesterday night at Badragola near Gonicoppa and Shashidar breathed his last early today.

Shashidar and Mallengada Kiran Nanjappa were returning from Mysore yesterday in a TATA Indica car and the vehicle turtled and rolled down to a ditch. Seriously injured duo were taken to hospital at Virajpet . They were referred to Madikeri hospital and again sent to Mysore from Madikeri hospital.

Shashidar reportedly died in the morning and Kiran is put in the intensive care unit.

The journalists association held a condolence meeting today at Madikeri press club and remembered the services of Shashidar. Members took part in the funeral held in South Kodagu, at his residence at Ponnampet.

HAY TURNS SIX COWS DEAD;

In a bizarre incident, six cows eating poisoned hay in a neighbor’s field died at Chikkatur village near Kushalnagar.

A complaint is lodged with the police in this regard.

According to police an agriculturist Hariprasad had thrown pesticides on hay spread in the field. His neighbor Ramegowdas cows entered his field for grazing yesterday.

Two of them died on the spot and four others fell seriously ill. However, they breathed their lost in the veterinary hospital.

The pesticide was carelessly thrown and it was not intentional, police said. They conducted mahazar and registered a case.

Cows are worth rupees sixty thousand.

NESTLE HOCKEY CUP FROM MONTH END;

The three day Kodagu nestle Hockey tournament will begin from this 30th.

Announcing this in a press conference, president of the hockey association, Nellamakkada Mohan Aiyappa stated that the tournament will be held at Gonicoppa Cauvery College grounds.

He said that Nestle is assisting Kodagu Hockey since fourteen years and Ranamansingh from Nestle will be honoured during the tournament. He also said

Addressing scribes, Ranamansingh said that Hockey should be encouraged in Kodagu and Skanda Coffee curing works is also joining hands in sponsoring nestle Cup each year.

Vice president of the state hockey association, Subash Muthanna said that ‘A’ division hackey is over and eight teams are already selected to play. Celebrated players will also take part in the tournament, he said. Coorg Hockey Assciation vice president Thammaiah, K.N.bopaiah from Skanda Coffee, CHA secretary Subramani were present.
