KODAGU GUY ARRESTED FOR THEFT IN DUBAI;Madikeri November 19, 2007 Ahmed basher, a youth serving in Dubai was picked by Bangalore police on Saturday night from his house here on charges of theft at Dubai. According to Bangalore police, Basheer was working for a company at Dubai. He along with a friend allegedly stole rupees ninety lakhs in cash from the cash box, using a duplicate key. He was arrested by Dubai police and released on bail. However, basher gave slip to his boss and arrived at Kodagu last week and went to his native in Kunjila village. He was residing here with his father Adram, a merchant. Bangalore police arrived here and searched his house along with the Napoklu police and took him to custody. Adram has complained that police attacked him and his children before taking Ahmed basher with them. His wife was also threatened, adram told this correspondent. When contacted, Bangalore police said that Basheer has accepted the crime and said that he has taken rupees ten lakh from the stolen lot. He has revealed a place where the money is hidden at Dubai. If the money is recovered from the place, basher would be released, said Bangalore, Ashokanagar police. The parents are worried how Bangalore police can arrest their son for a crime committed at Dubai. Do they have proper proof and boundary to act, they are wondering. RAM SETHU YATRA BEGINS;Members of the Vishwa Hindu parishath and other Hindu organizations yesterday began their ‘Ram Sethu’ yatra from Irpu temple at South Kodagu. An immotional pooja was held at the banks of laksmana Teerta River at Srimangal and the holy stone was taken in a procession to irpu temple. Dozens of ladies lined up holding ‘Kalasa’ and slogans of ‘Jai Sriram’ rented the sky. The two wheelers decorated with orange flags led the yatra. The yatra crossed major towns of Srimangala, Hudiker, Ponnampet and Gonicoppal before reaching Somwarpet at night. Earlier, addressing the gathering, regional co ordinator of the VHP, Keshava Hegde addressed the gathering and said that Indian culture minus Ram will be redused to nothing. Lambasting the Madras and central government hatching a plan to destroy ‘Ram Sethu’, he said that Indians should respect the age old bridge dating back to Ramayana, which is also identified by NASA. He revealed that the British once planned to destroy the bridge and changed their plan with a view that it would hurt the sentiments of Indians. VHP co ordinator from Mysore, Seetharam spoke on the occasion and said that ‘Ram Sethu’ should be protected as a national asset. He said that in America, staues of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are considered as national monuments and regretted that the governments in India are ignoring the sentiments of people here. MLA K.G.Bopaiah, Irpu Rameshwara temple president Dadu Cariappa, RSS convenor Mani Cariappa, honourary president M.W.Aiyappa and others were present. |
