MLA, 41 OTHERS BOOKED;Madikeri November 2 District police have slapped cases against MLA K.G.Bopaiah and 41 others to have disturbed Rajyotsava celebration at Madikeri yesterday. Cases of rioting, disturbing and damaging the public property was registered against the accused. The action comes after the riotus situation under which the district administration had to conduct Rajyotsav. Kodagu existence committee had called for a Kodagu bandh to protest against the government apathy against Kodagu and had appealed to schools, colleges and even government officials to hold back celebration. Students were brought in police vehicles to the Fort premises to take part in the celebration, much to the annoyance of protestors. DC stuck with children THEY MADE MERRY!Protestors blocked an auto at general Thimmaiah circle yesterday afternoon. About hundred meals was packed inside, to be delivered to Deputy Commissioner, Sp and other officials who had assembled at Sudarshan guest house. Protestors did not allow autorikshaw to ply. Instead, they pulled the food packets away and distributed it among the protestors and enjoyed the lunch! MAMMOTH RALLY PLANNED;Kodagu Existence committee will hold a mammoth rally at madikeri in a future date, according to its convenor Dada Belliappa. Addressing presspersons,Dada Belliappa stated that the rally would be held if the government fails to solve the jamma land problem. Former minister M.C.nanaiah spoke to press and said that a warning bell is rung to the government through conducting district bandh. He demanded that the deputy Commissioner has to explain why the chief minister’s directive to solve the Jamma Issue was not carried out. He cautioned by stating that the chief ministers house would be gheraoed, after the formation of the government. Former minister M.M.Nanaiah said that the government is responsible to have provoked people of kodagu to boycott Rajyotsava. MLA K.G.Bopaiah stated that the deputy commissioner and Zilla panchayath CEO are totally responsible for the episodes of rajyotsava. He opined that the officials are acting smart as there is no government run by elected representatives. He said that the government is responsible to have brought separatist thinking in Kodagu. FORMER SOLDIER DIES IN ACCIDENT;A former soldier kannikamda Thimmaiah, 45 died in an accident at Kunigal. According to reports, Thimmaiah, a resident of Somwarpet was running a lorry transport. He was driving his mini lorry last Thursday from Bangalore to Mangalore with a load of oil. His lorry met with a head on collision with a sand filled lorry near Kunigal and he died on the spot. The dead body was brought to Somwarpet and cremation was held here. |
