MLA TO FILE CONTEMPT AGAINST OFFICIALS;

MLA K.G.Bopaiah has said that he will move a breaching of duty motion against revenue officials.

Calling a press conference here, he said that the revenue officials have changed the contents of the discussion in the sessions. The revenue minister had given a proper reply to a query regarding Jamma lands, but the officials twisted the version and mislead the district officials. This left the Jamma land holders stripped of their rights over Jamma lands.

He informed that this issue will be taken up seriously in the next session along with other representatives of Kodagu.

CALL TO POSTPONE BANDH

Bopaiah called upon the organizers to postpone the bandh scheduled for second of July to protest against the Jamma decision. He said that the government is positively responding to their demand and bandh should be postponed. Stating that he is not opposing the protest, Bopaiah said that they have to wait for government’s decision since the session will begin from July 5.

RS.4.91 CRORE FOR CMC

Meanwhile MLA stated that the City Municipal Council is granted rupees 4.91 crores for development.

Rupees one crore is already released in the first phase and remaining amount will be released in two phases. De silting, concrete road formation and drainage are included under this scheme.

GRAM PANCHAYATHS TO REMAIN CLOSED;

All the Gram Panchayaths in the district will remain closed on this 29th (tomorrow)

To protest against the decision of the government.

The Gram panchayaths have decided to observe bandh by shutting the doors as their power is curtailed further by the government.

Addressing a press conference, president of Ballamavati Gram panchyath, Neravanda Umesh said that the concept of Gram panchayaths to curb corruption and improve development by late Nazir Sab and Rajiv Gandhi is vanishing. The government is trying to amend section 73 of the constitution. A memorandum would be submitted to the president of India through the Deputy Commissioner on this 29th

LIFE TO KILLER HUSBAND;

The fast track court here has sentenced to life a killer husband.

Chimmanamada ganesh had brutally murdered his wife Saraswathi during 2006, demanding dowry.

His wife had lodged a complaint with the Srimangala police in an earlier occasion and alleged that she was attacked with a bill hook demanding dowry. Police did little to settle the matter. Again in the month of March, 2006, he beat his wife with a club and sliced her throat.

Police had arrested the accused and lodged him in jail.

Fast track court yesterday pronounced the judgments and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for life and also to pay a fine of rupees two thousand.
