NINE COPS SUSPENDED;Madikeri June 21, 2007 Superintendent of police, Trilokchandra has suspended nine police constables from Madikeri town police station. The cops were suspended to have violated internal discipline. According to a source, they were found playing cards inside the station to pass time. DISTRICT CO OPERATIVE ACTION COMMIITTEE COMES TO EXISTENCE;An action committee to safe guard the interests of co operatives have come into existence. Addressing a press confence here yesterday, president of the committee, V.P.Suresh said that they urge the government extend loan waiver facility to all the co operative societies. He said that the government has extended the facilities to District co operative bank and VSSSNNs connected to it. Whereas the loans raised from other co operative banks in the district for other sectors have to be re paid. The borrowers in these societies are also suffering due to loss and their loans have to be waived off, he said. A meeting to discuss the modalities is called at Madikeri on this 23rd. C.B.Cariappa, B.S.Prakash, Mrs.Bangera, Kannanda Sampath, Usman and others were present. MONSOON YET TO GAIN MOMENTUM;Monsoon rainfall in the district is yet to gain momentum. Rainfall is active only in certain parts like Madikeri, Bhagamandala, talakavery and other places. Kodagu has registered 18 inches less rainfall than last year. The district had received 27.73 inches of rainfall last year till this date. So far Madikeri taluk has received 8.64 inches, Somwarpet 6.59 inches and 12.50 inches of rainfall. Bhagamandala received 1.79 inches of rainfall yesterday. Agricultural activities around Bhagamandala has begun whereas Madikeri and Somwarpet farmers are yet to take up the work in full swing. Water level at confluence of Cauvery, Kannike and Sujyothi is raising and the increase is note as two feet till yesterday. |
