BSNL HEAVY TRAFFIC AFFECTED CALLS

Madikeri June 17 Kodagu has 35 B.S.N.L towers at present. This is not sufficient to feed back the mobile users in the district. In addition, the tourists are pouring. This has created congestion in the telephone communication in the district. The mobile phones respond with “Network busy” messages. The problem will be solved within 6 months of time assured N.B.Nagaraj, the Madikeri division Telecom Junior officer while he was answering to TOI.. The BSNL central office has already sanctioned 27 new towers for Kodagu. The construction and connection will be completed within 6 months –he said.

At present Madikeri town has 4 towers and Virajpet, Somwarpet, Kushalnagar and Gonikopal towns have 2 towers each. In all these towns extra one tower each will come up-said Nagaraj.

B.S.N.L has provided free GPRS connections for the prepaid subscribers. However downloading of data will be charged. Due to the GPRS free connections the subscribed customers face congestion in the GPRS connections. Many customers were using GPRS under the unlimited download scheme for just Rs. 199 per month. Even, many customers download the mails and watching news through mobiles only. Due to heavy traffic and congestion, the subscribers could not use the facility properly. This is because the GPRS connections have the link through mobile call lines only. Due to the increasing number of calls in the district, the GPRS connection is also affected. The obstacle will be cleared after the establishment of the new towers-assured Nagaraj. Meanwhile, the connections in heavy traffic towers, some lines will be deviated to the medium traffic towers as temporary measures for smooth running he explained.
