KODAGU BANDH ON JULY 2,Madikeri June 16, 2007 An apolitical meeting held at Madikeri has decided to observe bandh for a day and intensify fight against the Jamma issue, haunting people of Kodagu. Meeting attended by all political leaders and representatives from different organizations decided to call for a bandh on July 2 and press the government to with draw Jamma order passed by the earlier state revenue chief secretary Jamdar. The meeting passed a resolution to fight for the cause apolitically under single umbrella. The president of the Baane Jaminu Hakku Samrakshana Samity, J.A.Karumbaiah in his introductory speech said that the above order is a big jolt to the farming community which is denied right over its own land. He regretted that the banks have with held loan; benefits are denied to them due to the above order. Taluk Panchayath member Addanda Cariappa questioned the meeting whether the problem would be totally solved if the government order is reversed. Advocate A.K.Subbaiah replied that the earlier order of former revenue secretary Lokare should be implemented for the problem to get solved. He said that they should again take up the issues of right over trees and RTC confusions. President of Akila Kodava Samaj, Matanda Monnappa stated that Peoples representatives should inform the government about the problem in a clear form. He said that the district in charge minister Ramachandra Gowda is unaware of the facts. Advocate M.K.Poovaiah stated that Jamma issue can be solved just by filing a writ in the court. Gowda Samaj representatives Ananth and Totambailu Nanaiah said that Jamma is an issue which is going to haunt even the next generation, if it is not tackled properly. JDs president V.P.Aiyappa stated that though the PLD banks have released loans, they are not disbursing it due to the Jamma order. BJP president Sunil Subramani said that the district in charge minister, MP Sadananda Gowda, MLA K.G.Bopaiah is striving to solve the problem. DCC president Veena Achaiah, former minister M.M.Nanaiah questioned what are our district leaders doing and why are they not representing the issue before government in an effective way? Bharath from DYFI, M.B.Devaiah from BJP, Abdul Rehaman from Napoklu, Durga Prasad from Virajpet and others spoke on the occasion. President of federation of Kodava Samajas, B.A.Nanaiah spoke on the occasion. |
