CNC URGES CENTER TO LOOK INTO JAMMA PROBLEM;Madikeri June 13, 2007 Kodava Parliament meet held here yesterday by Codava National Council decided to urge central government to find a permanent solution to Jamma problem in the district by framing constitution under rule 370 and 371. Addressing the Kodava parliament meet at capitol village, secretary general of CNC,N.U.Nachappa stated that central government have to provide absolute ownership to Kodavas over Jamma lands so as to protect it from outside investors and buyers. He regretted that hundreds of acres in kodagu are being sold to outsiders causing concern to localites. The copies of memorandum highlighting the Jamma issue and the need to hand it over to Kodavas was farwarded to the president of India, prime minister, home minister, governor of Karnataka, chief minister, deputy chief minister , Deputy commissioner of Kodagu and other concerned. CNC has called for a public meeting at Gonicoppal on this 18th to bring awareness about the need to bring constitutional support to jamma land. Continuos meetings would be held all over Kodagu, after this, to bring awareness. CNC also decided to hold protest in front of minority commission office, Belgaum and also in Bangalore to pressurize government to implement Kodava language as a ad ministerial language under section 350 B. The meet also decided to meet revenue secretary in Bangalore on July 18th. |
