DECISION TO RPOTEST HIGH TENSION WIRE INSTALLATION;Madikeri June 11, 2007 A high level meeting held at Gonicoppal yesterday decided to intensify protest against the government as their demand to change the line hit deaf ears. Col.Muthanna stated that the centre government is pressurizing the state government not to change the line even though Karnataka government was prepared to hear people’s grievance. Maletira Srinivas of cauvery sene stated that they have to call for a Kodagu bandh since their demands are not heard. He alleged that representatives of political parties are not bothered about the development of the district even though they have power in hand to do so. Hosabeedu ravi cautioned that the protests will be intensified. Presiding over the meet, convenor of cauvery sene, ravi Chengappa said that his organization is working against corruption in the district and has succeeded in stopping mini hydel project at Abbi Falls, Madikeri and Minig activity at Tolur Shettalli at Somwarpet. He sought co operation from people to fight against the high tension line menace the government is deciding to implement by force. The government has decided to take a high tension line across Nagarahole national park to Kerala and people are protesting against it. They are claiming that the line will affect the life of wild life. Kolathanda raghu machaiah, Mukkatira shambhu, Bananda ramesh and others were present. Subramani welcomed the gathering. FOUNDATION LAID FOR PATRIKABHAVAN AUDITORIUM; A foundation stone was laid for Patrika Bhavan auditorium at Madikeri yesterday. Addressing the gathering, MLA K.G.Bopaiah stated that officials should respond to the problems projected by newspapers. He opined that the politicians are afraid of only media and media should also work without fear and bias. MLA B.A.Jivijaya unveiled foundation stone and said that most of the politicians today are corrupt and press should bring awareness among public to protest the evils. Protesting spirit is diminishing in Kodagu, he said. MLA H.D.Basavaraju accused people as responsible for the growth of corruption in the district . All the MLAs assured fund to the Patrika Bhavan. Trustee Jivan Chinnappa spoke in the beginning and said that the auditorium will be built at a cost of rupees nine lakh. T.P.Ramesh presided over. H.T.Anil welcomed the gathering. Keshava kamath proposed vote of thanks. G.Chidvilas compeered. |
