OPPOSING WORLD KODAVA CONFERENCE

DEMAND FOR INCLUSION OF ALL KODAVA SPEAKING COMMUNITY

Madikeri June 10 Strong opposition is voiced for world Kodava conference programme organized by the Kodava Sahithya academy for not including all the Kodava language speaking community people. A meeting held at Virajpet Akhila Kodava Samaj, Virajpet demanded the reconstitution of the organization committee. Otherwise ,Kodava language speaking all other community people will boycott the conference, the meeting unanimously resolved.

The meeting was organized by the Kodava speaking community organization which includes 19 original inhabitants’ community representatives in the district.

The “Peggade” community leader Sara Chengappa spoke. He alleged that the Kodava Sahithya academy has completely neglected all other communities except the Kodava people. 19 communities in the district still use Kodava language as their mother tongue. But all these section is completely neglected by the academy. No representative from these communuitoies is invitesd ot taken to confidence. –Sara Chengappa explained. Academy’s registrar Thara Saraswathi is not attending to the office due to the president’s adverse policy he added.

The acasdemy is already receiving Rs. 15 lakh yearly sanction from the Govt. They have further asked for Rs. One crore to conduct the world conference. However, the finance committee meeting is being held at Bangalore. The president Smt. Dati Poovaiah has selected her husband U.M.Poovaiah as the president for the Souvenir Sub committee Sara Chengappa disclosed. He warned about the misuse of funds if the committee is not properly channalised. . The Amma Kodava leader Krishnakumar demanded for the dissolution of the present world Kodava conference committee and to reorganize it.

The representatives from 19 sub castes sections attended the meeting and supported the resolution move.

RS.ONE CRORE TO BE DEVIAGTED

Madikeri June 10 tHE state Govt. had sanctioned Rs. One crore for the indoor stadium development in the District General Thimmaiah stadium here. The amount will

be deviated for the overall development of the General Thimmaiah stadium instead of using exclusively for indoor works. The decision was taken by the district stadium committee. The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav and was attended by the M.L.A K.G.Bopaiah, and the Zilla Panchayath President H.S.Ashok. The meeting resolved to send a proposal to Govt. for sanctioning a Sports school to Kodagu to be commenced at Madikeri.

FOREST COLLEGE STUDENTS END SRIKE

The forest College students at Ponnampet ended their 20 days strike. The student leaders announced that the Govt. has agreed to fulfill their demands. The students had put forth the demand of consideration of forest graduate students during the appointment of RFOs and ACFs in Karnataka.. At preset 170 RFO posts are vacant in the state. A delegation of students had met the Forest Minister Chenniigappa at Bangalore who has assured the 50% reservation for the forest graduated while appointing for the higher posts, the student leaders disclosed.
