POLICE RAID FAKE NURSING SCHOOL;Madikeri June 9, 2007 Town police here raided a school run in the name of Nursing and seized records. Police raided the school on the instruction of the Deputy Commissioner. Convenor of Kaveri sene, Ravi Chengappa had lodged a complaint with the Health minister and Superintendent of Police about the fraud. Acting on the complaint, police sub inspector Chandraih raided the unit run under the title Karnataka health Education Training Council and seized documents. It was revealed that the organization had been claiming that it has recognition from different Recognised state institutions. While the board in front of the building is one, the certificates being provided to students were different one. It was alleged that the organization was collecting fees in thousands from students with a promise to issue certificates and provide job. But the students were not issued valid certificates and they were not considered for job any where. The KHETC has cancelled their recognition since they did not pay required fees. But the centre used to print fake question papers and conduct bogus examination and issue pass certificates. The organizers are running two centers, one at Madikeri and another at Kushalnagar. Police have summoned the director of the organization, Nirmalaraj for enquiry. SKELETON FOUND;Sight of a skeleton scared a person who went looking for his cow on a field. According to police, Pattamada Navin was looking for his cow in an abandoned field at Bengur village near Bhagamandala, yesterday. He was flabbergasted to find an abandoned skeleton of a person. Later he lodged a complaint at Bhagamandala police station. Sub inspector Manjunath conducted Mahazar. The skeleton was tested by Napoklu hospital doctors. Manjunath stated that the bone samples and doctors report would be sent to Bangalore for further test. Investigation will begin after establishing whether the skeleton belongs to a man or a woman. DIQUALIFICATION FEAR HAUNTS MLC;Disqualification fear haunts MLC Arun Machaiah who won election as a congress rebel candidate. Former MLC A.K.Subbaiah had lodged a complaint with the speaker alleging that Arun Machaiah has won election as an independent candidate and then joined JDs. He had appealed for his disqualification. Conducting an enquiry the speaker had closed the file after taking the statement from JDs supreme H.D.devegowda. Devegowda had stated that Machaiah was never a member of his party and did not contest from party ticket. A.K.Subbaiah had approached High Court against the speaker’s decision and again appealed for disqualification. The single bench court headed by H.G.Ramesh has directed the speaker to re open the file and conduct a re enquiry. He has said that statement of only H.D.Devegowda is not enough to close the issue and statement of Machaiah should also be taken. |
