Madikeri June 5, 2007

Srimangala town in South Kodagu observed a total bandh yesterday condemning the misbehavior of a cop and demanded his transfer.

People led by the president of Nagarika Horata Samithy, Katti Mandaiah held a protest by downing shutters and halting traffic. They urged the police department to immediately transfer cop Ramesh who created ruckus on 2nd night by barging into nurse quarters at Srimangala.

Ramesh was captured by public on the said night and locked inside the whole night. He was later handed over to police in the morning.

Nagarika Samithy has alleged that Ramesh had been behaving like maniac and troubling single women at Srimangala since two years. Police have not considered their repeated requests to transfer him.

The protesters also demanded the police department to post a sub inspector, the post of which is vacant since long.

ALLEGATION OF DC ISSUEING TWO JUDGEMNTS TO ONE CASE;

The Samajwadi party has claimed that the Deputy Commissioner has issued two kinds of judgement to one case and urged action against him.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday, party district president Sai Kumar alleged that two kinds of judgments have arrived on two occasions from deputy commissioner pertaining to a same issue.

He stated that the deputy Commissioners court had instructed the tahasildar on 25.4.07 not to transfer the land records to one A.R.Ravikumar from Bangalore who had bought land from one Kaverappa from Ballamavati village.

The order was passed hearing the objection from the sons of Kaverappa against the sale. The sons had said that the land is Jamma and cannot be sold.

According to Sai Kumar, the DCs court has once again issued an order to Tahasildar on 21.5.07, changing its stand. It has asked him to change the mutation favouring sale.

Sai Kumar has urged action against the concerned revenue officials.
