CRIMINAL HELD;

Madikeri July 31, 2007

Town police here have caught an inter district thief and recovered stolen property worth rupees 1.5 lakhs.

Belonging to Kodagu, Keshava, 22 was involved in stealing at Kodagu, Puttur, Jalsoor and other places. He had snatched a chain worth rupees 78 thousand from the neck of a house wife, while she was walking home on this 28th. He was caught by police yesterday as he was staying in a rented house at Madikeri town. Chains a, bangles and other jewels worth rupees 1.3 lakhs was seized from his house.

He is sent to judicial custody.

LOKAYUKTA BEGINS INQUIRY;

Lokayukta officials have begun inquiry into the posts created by a Town Panchayath by creating fake records.

Officals seized records pertaining to the post newly created by forged documents from Town Panchayath Kushalnagar and conducted inquiry.

Retired tahasildar T.C.thammaiah had complained to the Lokayukta that a post of assistant engneer was created by twisting and forging the resolutions of the meeting by the then Chief OPfficer Shivanaika and a daily wage employee. One K.Prakash was appointed to the post. Media had thrown light on this issue.

Lokayukta officials said that the records are seized and action would be taken based on the records.

SHANTHI JAATA ARRIVES AT MADIKERI;

The group of scouts spreading message of peace arrived at Madikeri yesterday. The five men team was given a warm welcome by the district Scouts Commissioner baby Mathew and Guides Commissioner Dotty Caverappa at General Thimmaiah circle.

A procession was taken out in the main streets before assembling for a function.

Addressing the function at Scouts and Guides Bhavan, chief guest B.G.Anantha shayana called upon the scouts and guides to develop love towards Nation and inculcate universal love. He stated that it is a prestige for a child to become a scout or a guide as they are special citizens who should be above caste and creed.

G.V.nargund from Dharwad, accompanying the team spoke on the occasion. Baby Mathew told in his speech that former chief minister Dharam Singh will inaugurate the function at Bangalore on August 9 where all the five peace teams from different parts of the country will assemble
