GOVERNMENT RELEASES RS.1.5 CRORES TO SAINIK SCHOOL;

The state government has sanctioned rupees 1.5 crores to Sainik School at Kudige in Kodagu.

Major Caveriappa, in charghe of the school informed this correspondent that a high level meeting was held at Bangalore yesterday and the above amount was sanctioned by the education secretary Bhaskar.

Caveriappa stated that the amount was released to prepare preliminary facilities to commence the school and the government has promised to release rupees twenty five crores in all.

He also said that interviews would be held to select the students from this month end and applications can be had from their Bijapur School (Phone number 08352 270638)

He has appealed to students from all over the state to apply for class sixth to eleventh.

RS.FIVE CRORE RAIN RELIEF RELEASED

The district in charge minister Ramachandra Gowda informed this correspondent that the government has released rupees five crores for rain relief in the district.

Informing this over telephone, he said that an additional amount of rupees ten crores would be released again.

Though the fierceness of rainfall is reduced today, Talacauvery and Bhagamandala received eleven inches of rainfall yesterday in one day. Whole town of Bhagamandala was inundated yesterday with three feet high water.

BANGLA RESIDENT TO BE SENT BACK;

A Bangla resident Ajeem talukdar detained in Virajpet jail is asked by the court to be sent back to his native.

Ajeem was detained by Virajpet police nine months ago and lodged in jail for living in the country even after the expiry of visa.

Judge Shantha heard the case and ordered that he be sent back to Bangladesh after producing him at the concerned foreign office in Bangalore within twelve days.
