GOVT SANCTIONS RUPEES 5 CRORE RAIN RELIEF;Madikeri July 10, 2007 MLA K.G.Boapaiah has announced that the chief minister has released rupees five crore for the rain relief in Kodagau as a first step. Talking to this correspondent from Bangalore, Boapaiah said that he met the chief minister yesterday along with MLC Arun Machaiah and MLA B.A.Jivijaya and requested him to release the fund immediately. Chief Minister responded positively, he said. Meanwhile, Bopaiah said that the scheduled programme of Chief Minister to stay in Kodagu was postponed due to the mourning after the death of former Prime Minister Chandrashekar. Kumar Swamy was supposed to visit Kodagu on this 13th and 14th and stay in a village. MLA Basavaraju from Virajpet had held a meeting at Virajpet yesterday to request CM to stay in a Tribes colony and place demands for Mini Vidhana Souda to Virajpet etc. JAMMA ISSUE TO BE SOLVED;MLA Bopaiah stated that the chief minister has agreed to reverse the Jamma land orders unconditionally. He assured the elected representatives that he will settle the issue before he visits Kodagu. Revenue minister Jagadish Shettar was also present during the meeting. It can be recalled that protests and Bandhs are being organized in Kopdagu against a circular which blocks the right of owners over their Jamma lands. Revenue secretary Jamdar was targeted for the circular the contents of which are twisted and was done with a vested interest. The chief minister has now promised to call back the circular. IRPU THROWS FEAST FOR THE EYES;Irpu water falls in South Kodagu is throwing feast for the eyes with milky water pouring down from seventy feet height and surging through. Kodagu is opening up for tourists with water falls full and beautiful. Dozens of water spots turn into tourist spots during monsoon in this picturesque district. All the three taluks have water falls in different locations and designs. Abbefalls at Madikeri sends water breeze in the air hundreds of feet away. Mallalli water falls near Shanthalli at Somwarpet, Chelavara water falls at Narianda and Harangi reservoir are some of the important spots opening up for the tourists. With the rain fury coming down, roads inside the district are freed for easy movement. |
