HARANGI NEAR TO BRIM;

The unabated rainfall is swelling the rivers and rivulets in Kodagu and water level at Harangi reservoir is expected to reach the maximum level any day.

Maximum level being 2859 feet, the water level till yesterday was 2844.67 feet.

Last years level was 2857.50 on this day.

Madikeri recorded a total rainfall of 1433.38 while the same was 1564 mm last year. Virajpet recorded a rainfall of 1265.59mm while the same was 1121.34Last year. Somwarpet registered rainfall of 766.73mm. Last year it was 751.54mm.

Yesterday’s lowest rainfall was 8.2 mm at Harangi in 24 hours and maximum was 193 mm at Talacauvery. Madikeri recorded 70.2 mm.

Duration of rainfall is reducing today along with its force. The water level in flood hit areas is also coming down.

So far three lives are lost in Kodagu due to rain related calamity. 258 houses have incurred loss and 437 people are rendered home less. They are housed in 9 relief centers spread in all the three talukas.

The district administration has estimated total rain related loss in the district as rupees 13,85,61,000.
