ILLICIT RELATION REASON FOR MURDER;Madikeri December 31, 2007 Illicit relationship might be the reason for the murder of a car driver at Somwarpet, according to police. Preliminary investigation into the barbarous murder of a young driver Umesh at Chittenahalli near Periyapatna on 22nd has revealed that he had made enemies with a couple of men, developing illicit relationship with their wives. There was also another case of him blackmailing a Reddy family as they tried to find a groom to their daughter. Police suspect that one of these incidents must have been resulted in the murder of Umesh. Umesh was taken to Periyapatna side by hiring the Maruthi van he was driving by unknown persons on 22nd. He went missing since then and his mutilated body was found in drainage near Bilikere. Eye witnesses of Chittenahalli have told investigating team that they observed from a distance that a person was being beaten by a trio at a distance hillock and loaded into the boot of the Maruthi van. The vehicle later sped away. The isolated van was recovered at Mysore yesterday and a sword was found inside. Investigation is on. DOG SHOW ENTHRALLS AUDIENCE;The dog show organized by kennel Club, Kodagu, kennel Club Mysore and state Animal Husbandry departments enthralled the audience at Pollibetta. About 93 dogs of nineteen varieties took part in the show and exhibited their talents. Dr.B.C.Ramakrishna of Mysore Kennel club inaugurated the show. The “Hutch” famed Pub breed won the first place in the show while Dashund won the second. Rat wheeler stood third and Boxer received satisfactory prizes. Audience witnessed a tensed moment as the Rat wheeler tried to grab the prize winning Pug dog with its mouth. It also tried to attack a scribe clicking picture. Inaugurating the show, Dr.Ramakrishna said that love towards dogs is on the increase in Kodagu. Joint director of Animal husbandry department, Manjunath called upon the people to develop more concern and love towards pet dogs. Dr.Ganapathy, president of Kodagu Kennel club welcomed the gathering. Dr.Yathiraj from Bangalore compared the programme and shared tips as to how to look after pet animals. BOOK RELEASED;“Himalaya Paryatana”, a book authored by Adurkala Shankaranarayana Bhat of bhagamandala was released here by kannada sahitya Parishath. Dr.G.K.ravikumar of All India Radio, Madikeri released the book and said that travel books remain ever fresh as it contains direct experience of a traveler. President of Kannada Sahitya Parishath, T.P.Ramesh presided over the function. The function was inaugurated by Taluk Panchayath executive officer Motaiah. He said that authors get more subjects to write from rural areas than in cities. Adurkala Shankaranarayana Bhat, Mandepanda Geetha mandanna, J.C. Shekar and Dr.Lakshmi were honoured for their service in literature on this occasion.. mahabhaleshwara Bhat and few others were also felicitated for their achievements in different fields. |
