BUS HIT TREE: 25 INJUREDMadikeri Dec. 30 A private bus hit a tree yesterday evening at Hebbale village near Kushalnagar. 25 passengers are e injured;5 of them said to be serious. The Bus was plying from Kushalnagar to Somwarpet. Due to technical fault the bus went out of control of the driver and hit a tree. The seriously injured passengers are admitted to Madikeri and Mysore hospitals.Total 40 passengers including school children werer traveling in the bus. GROWERS PROTEST AGAIBNST THE DISPARITY IN INSURANCE DISTRIBUTIONMadikeri Dec. 30 The Shanivarasanthe Coffee growers have protested against the disparity in coffee rain insurance distribution by the Bangalore agricultural insurance company .Instead of giving Rs.3200 per head per acre of coffee land the authorities were giving Rs. 1,200 each. While collecting the signatures of the growers for the distribution of cheques the authorities were not mentioning the actual amount written on cheques. The enraged growers protested the hide and seek policy of the company. More than 1500 growers Arrived to collect their portion have then joined together to protest the attitude of the company. Police have to intervene to calm down the situation. The insurance authorities took return the distributed cheques and assured that they will arrange the distribution some other day after the proper amount is shown on cheques. Meanwhile the coffee board authorities have clarified that the distribution of insurance is the sole responsibility of the insurance company and the coffee board is in no way connected to these arrangements. The board is just providing detail information about the procedures to be followed by the growers to obtain the facility-clarified the authorities in a press statement here. CAR FOUND IN MYSOREMadikeri Dec. 30 The recent incident of murder of a taxi driver has the other investigation developments. Mysore Police crime branch assistant commissioner Vijayakumar has traced the red maruthi taxi at Ananda vihar road, Mysore near a Gujri shop. He has handed over the taxi to Somwarpet Police for further investigations. Umesh(24) a taxi driver from Somwarpet was recently murdered near Mysore when he took the vehicle for hire. The culprits have to be identified. Some illicit connection is said to be the cause of the incident. RESTLESS RUST FOR THE INSTRUMENTS!Madikeri Dec. 30 The hospital advanced instruments brought for the poor patients service are lying idle and turning to rusting in Somwarpet general hospital.The hospital was upgraded with the aid of World Bank funding. The renovated hospital was inaugurated during 1998.Since then the hospital has the shortage of experts to operate the modern instruments In addition to the regular instruments Rs.1,5 lakh worth Anesthetic machinery, operation instruments were arranged. Anesthetic and surgical experts are lacking here. Govt. has neglected the hospital. The instruments and the operation theatre has become a exhibitory portions without any use for the, poor patients.
