POLITICS MARS GONICOPPAL APMC;Madikeri December 27, 2007 Internal politics at APMC Gonicoppal is resulting in rifts and splits in the BJP led administration. Members are moving no confidence motion against the president and vice president. No confidence was moved against President Bose Devaiah and vice president Arun Bhimaiah for the second time now in a year. MLA Basavaraju saved the move last time by nominating new members and taking their support. This time however most of the members, including BJP are against the duo. A meeting called to strike a compromise on this 25th by taluk BJP president Ravindra has failed as members are reluctant to accept the duo to lead. The meeting to move the no confidence is fixed for 28th and the duo might loose ground since compromise efforts have failed. STREESHAKTI EXHIBITION UNVEILED;The Zilla Panchayath president Deergakeshi Shivanna unveiled the Streeshakthi exhibition here yesterday. Addressing the gathering she said that the district administration should provide a permanent outlet for the ladies to sell their product in the town. She called upon the ladies to utilize the benefits to stabilize their life. Inaugurating the exhibition by lighting the lamp, the deputy commissioner Niranjan said that the ladies should spend the profit earned through products on the education of their children. He called upon them to see that their children stand on their own feet.. He also said that importance should be given to health and culture, as women play vital role in promoting such things. He assured to provide two shops to the women organuisations at an affordable rent. The taluk Panchayath presidebt Kalappa opined that the sale exhibition should remain throughout the year in the lines of Mysore Dasera Exhibition. Ssistant director of women and child welfare department, Sheharbhanu explained the ways and means of earning more profit. PALANGAPPA RECEIVES JANAPADA AWARD;Kalachanda Palangappa of Kodagu has received the prestigious Janapada award from state Janapada and Yakshagana academy. Palangappa, a planter from Mukkodlu village has been serving through a organization to popularize folk arts of Kodagu like Bolakat and Kolat. He had also authored a folk art book called ‘Anja Raaga’. He is also a recipient of state rajyotsava award and janapada award at Chitrdurga. |
