TRIBES HOLD PROTEST; BLOC K ROADS;

Tribes held a protest yesterday in the district demanding implementation of forest act and blocked roads.

Roads were blocked at Anechokur, nagarhole and Karmad areas, bringing traffic to a halt. Hundreds of tourists rushing to Kodagu to spend holidays were struck mid way.

“Budakattu Krishikara Sanga” spearheading the protest alleged that the state government is ignoring the central governments order to provide forest rights to tribes. President of the Tribes association, Somwarpet, R.K.Chandru spoke on the occasion and said that the false environmentalists are using their influence over state not to implement the law. Virajpet unit president Ramu said that the Tribes are denied of basic facilities even after sixty years of independence.

He cautioned the government that protests would be intensified in future, if the government fails to implement the law immediately. Village level protests, protest walks and protest at Bangalore and Delhi would be organized, he disclosed.

ANNADAN, GOSHALA AT TALACAUVERY;

Bhagamandala – Talacauvery temple committees have decided to organize free food facility to pilgrims and also to open a Goshaala to protest cows.

In a meeting held yesterday with president Narayanachar in the chair, it was decided to find a place to establish ‘Goshaala’.

Resolutions were passed to improve facilities in the temples, build house to the priests at bhagamandala, increase the salary etc. The members also discussed about a land donated to the temple by a family way back in 1917 and opined that the land however is being enjoyed by the family itself. It was decided to seek re survey and request the family to provide rice evry year.
