FACE LIFT TO SRIMANGALA POWER STATION;

The broken power sub station at Srimangala would be rejuvenated at a cost of rupees 1.19 crores.

The assistant executive engineer Ankaiah told this correspondent that the station would be upgraded with new equipments and machineries. The action by the CESCOM comes after series of protests staged by residents of Srimangala and south Kodagu in the recent days against erratic power and neglected station. CESCOM superintendent engineer Shanthi from Mysore had promised the protestors that she will look into the matter. The present project of rupees 1.19 crore is her initiative.

Ankaiah said that tender process has begun and the work would be initiated after accepting tenders. The project includes 3 feeder rooms, control rooms, 33 kv OGS, 11 kvg OS, 11 kv breaker etc.

He said that the transformers will not be changed and the power circulation was affected due to the faulty feeders. Power was not being supplied properly to Kutta, kanur, Birunani and other towns and villages.

Agriculturists in these regions are optimistic that the station would be ready by January so that they shall begin sprinkler activity.

KENNEL SHOW AT POLLIBETTA;

Pollibetta Kennel Club and state animal husbandry department have jointly organized a kennel show at Pollibetta on this 30th.

President of the KC, Dr.Ganapathy told in a press conference here yesterday that more than 200 dogs will take part in the eight year show being conducted by them. The show will include around twenty varieties and people will bring their pets from all over Kodagu.

The show will include attractive demonstration by police dogs, a snake show. Anti rabies would be administered to dogs free of cost from Lions Club.

DR.CHENGAPPA FELICIATATED;

Kodava education society yesterday felicitated educationist Dr.M.M.Chengappa at Coorg Institute of Technology. He was felicitated on completion of ten years as the president.

Addressing the annual function, former minister M.C.Nanaiah stated that Dr.Chengappa should be honored in a public function as he has contributed a lot to education field. He was the president of Institute of technology, Cauvery College Gonicoppal and Cauvery Women’s college, Virajpet. He is a model to the society, Nanaiah said.

Nayada Muthappa, president of Akila Kodava Samaj, Matanda Monnappa, vice president Of the Institute Belliappa, princiapal Cheluvegowda and Professor Muddappaveera addressed the gathering.
