ELECTION OBSERVER REVIEWS DEVELOPMENT;Madikeri December 20, 2007 Election observer and transport commissioner Lakshminarayan yesterday reviewed the developments and instructed the officials to carefully complete the voter list process. Conducting a meeting at Old Assembly hall, Lakshminarayan collected details from officials about the voters list of the district. He said that the election observers from state and center were not reviewing the voters’ list process earlier and now the observers will verify the process all over the state and collect statistics about inclusions and deletions. He instructed the officials to hand over processing sheets to political leaders for their opinion early and inform them about the election process. He also said that a list of migrating workers should also be prepared separately. Instruction was also given to remove the names of the dead, married persons and those who have left the place by using official discretion. Lakshminarayan informed that he will come again in the month of January and visit taluk offices to verify the records. Meanwhile, he visited the land earmarked to build Regional Transport Office on the way to Abbifalls. He said that the new office will be opened in a year’s time and the existing office building would be turned into General Thimmaiah memorial. He also informed that special bus service would be started to visit tourist spots in the district. JURNOS TO MEET;The district journalists association has called for a special meeting at Gonicoppal on this 22nd. President C.N.Somesh informed that the meeting is called to discuss about fund raising project. A permanent fund would be created for the benefit of journalists in the district. The secretary Kuttappa said that people’s representatives and public will take part in the meeting. INSULT TO CAUVERY; COMPLAINT FILEDBalyameederira Subramani, a resident of Virajpet and his companions have lodged a complaint against a monthly magazine. The complainants claimed that the magazine ‘Mayura” has caused insult to the sentiments of people of Kodagu by writing derogatory remarks against Cauvery and Teertodbhava. They quoted the magazine and said that it has passed a cheap and damaging remark about the Teertodbhava in the issue of December under “Churumuri” coloumn. Complaints were lodged at two police stations at Virajpet. |
